went to lake tahoe for the weekend and had great time. so at the end of the day i go back to marina to pull the boat out and the ramp was closed. they had a big bar across it locked. next closest ramp was 45 min. boat ride away. cant believe they close it a 5pm. i complained enough at the restuarant that they sent someone out to open it. not to mention they charge a $30 launch fee.

Holy crap! $30 to launch & they close at 5pm?! Thats insane! Hope you told them so too!
Wonder what their rationale was when they dreamed that up.

Lake Tahoe?!?
A guy I work with sent me an email today for an offer at Heavenly. Memorial Day weekend they are snow skiing! 5' base and 23 slopes plus tree skiing will be open. Wish I lived closer!

Thats nuts!! I can't imagine paying to launch, never have done it...... well unless you count my POA dues

I was up in Cicero, IN Saturday looking at a boat, the pay $35 to launch boats for test rides. I am sure they pre-qualify the buyer before taking the boats out, that would really add up over the year!

I agree with you. It is nuts! It makes me ill every year to have to pay that stinkin fee. $14 per launch. So after going out about 22 times it pays for itself. (That is how we justify the expense). Bought it April 1st and have been out 11 times. Halfway there.

You just need the master key...can you say bolt cutters?

thought of that but it wouldnt work. the lock had a welded cyclinder over it so you can only access the bottom of the lock. i was getting ready to ram it .

Acutally a good friend of mine while I was stationed in Hawaii got one of those kryptonite locks stuck on his motorcycle. Somehow he lost the key after a lengthy deployment. So we removed the wheel and took it to the demolotion range. A little C-4 and a small shaped charged and voila! No damage to the wheel and we go it off. :headbang:

I used to put a pretty heavy-duty flexible kryptonite lock through my rims and around the axle on my old boat trailer for the I/O. Parked it outside at a storage facility. One day, when I picked the boat up, when I tried to pull away, the tires on my Jeep spun. Not to be defeated, and in lieu of figuring out what was holding me back, I just assumed I was on a loose patch, dropped it into 4WL and proceeded to pull away, snapping the krypto-lock at its connecting point. Unbreakable my arse. :D

I hear you. I broke one loose on my GOLF CART last year. Not all that sturdy if you ask me.

Middle Tennessee.
It is a State Park pass. I can use it at any State Park! It's $30 for the year or $3 per launch.

to the best of my knowledge, all public ramps in Florida are free

Dude are you skiing on a corp operated lake. Around here any thing operated by the Army Corp. of Engineers(sp?) is three dollars per launch. A year pass is 30.00. The year pass is definatly worth it.

Those guys are making a killing. $30 bucks a pop. I'm gonna move to Tahoe and build myself a boat ramp and charge $25 to steal all their business.

And I will drive 30 minutes to avoid a $10 fee. $30-I would go to the casino!

It's a Tennessee State park ran lake. I'm sure TVA and Army Corp play a role. It's a bit strange. Last year we paid $65 at one of the ramps and hardly used that ramp. Come to find out that they can charge their own fee. They own the ramp. Not sure how, must be from way back when the lake was built.

And to think I was mad when it went from 2 bucks to 3 at a lake here.

Cost $3.00 at the marina here but TWRA has several free launches that are new and in better shape.
That's what we use. Plus it is only 5 min from the lake lot by car or boat.
