I have a 2003 prostar 197 TT with the 5.7 liter TBI Predator with the powerslot transmission.
It runs at about 140 degrees, isn't that a little low?
I thought it should be at 160, anyone know the correct running temperature:confused:
Thanks

My 03 PS197 used to run at about 160. I say used to cause I'm experiencing a problem with trapped air in the system. But before that 160 was a normal temp for me.

140 is low. Temp sender may be bad or thermostat is stuck open. You can check to see if the thermostat is working properly by removing it and putting it a pot of water and warming it up. Also, thermostats are cheap and a good item to change regularly.

My 2004 197 with TBI came stock with a 143 degree thermostat. Used to run right about 140 when in open water. Sometimes creeped up a bit when idling through a no wake zone. I put a 160 in it a couple of years ago to get more heat out of the heater and have not had any adverse effects.
