Got boat out of storage and had left the battery switch on. Batteries dead. Dealer charged them for 1 hour each. Went to lake and boat wouldnt turn over. Which battery do i charge for engine on an 08 X-2?
thanks

thanksNew battery. Done deal.

On the thrifty side, A Wally-World battery may suffice.

Next up is the blue top Optima (not necessarily a good battery for the money ~ $160 - $175). Highly talked about but their performance and warranty service is dwindling quickly.

Or an AMG battery for the long haul.

Treat yourself and your battery with a Battery Tender as well..

One hour isn't even close to what it will take if they were stone dead. They need a complete charge, not juice it so it'll start and use the alternator to finish the job. A proper charge limits the current going to the battery- it doesn't dump everything at once. Current in or out, if it's excessive, the terminals, leads and plates get hot and heat is what kills batteries along with total depletion which, by the way, reduces the capacity by about 30% every time it happens.

One may show that it's a deep cycle and one may show that it's a cranking battery. Charge them both properly and don't worry about which is which until then. Your alternator won't last long if you try to charge dead batteries.

"Got boat out of storage and had left the battery switch on."

Does this mean they left the switch on? The batteries should have been disconnected, not switched off. You can still have parasitic drain with the switch in the OFF position. If they left the switch on, they owe you new batteries.
