rem_p,

Thanks for the compliment. Can't wait to see yours. Not only another Bronco man but a Halfcaby like me.

My Dad bought the Bronco in '76 and used it as a daily driver for about 10 years and I started driving it when I was 16. I did the engine and trans swap (originally a 6cyl with 3 spd) along with the frame on resto myself in '93. I used it as my daily driver for about 8 yrs and now I just baby it in the garage and take it for a cruise every now and then. I have no plans on ever getting rid of it although I get offers almost every time I take it out. To many memories and a great rig:D

Saw a Bronco halfcab in town yesterday. i love those things. The lady driving it went into a liquor store. Maybe if she got all sloshed up I could get it from her for a good deal. What do they usually sell for in good shape? I realize demographics plays a roll in cost but an average would be cool.

Why didn't you follow the ol' boozehag into the store and offer to get a couple of bottles(in brown bags, of course) and hang out in a park. When she passes out- truck is yours! Or at least you could have worked out a deal. :friday:

Toys? I've got a 2 1/2 year-old son; I've got so many toys around that we can hardly get through the house. What was once my basement is now his toy storage area. Fortunately he lets me keep his MC in there also. Kids: the best excuse in the world for buying cool toys that we can play with. We went into Toys 'R Us last night and we were both salivating at all the cool toys they had.

BTW, someone on the old site talked about wanting one of those new Schwinn Stingray bikes. TRU had them, and they are extremely cool. That thing has a rear tire that is bigger than a lot of motorcycle tires. However, I sat on one and I don't know if they're made for adults or not. The seat was so low that my knees were up around the handlebars. When I tried to raise the seat, the post came out of the tube. Maybe they make kids and adult versions.

Knoxes
08-24-2004, 02:50 PM
heh. I love TRU - lil K knows once he gets me in the door, he's walking out with something. The last thing we bought was a couple of Air Hogs.

The first one I bought would take an immediate hard right into the ground. I guess the left engine was just stronger. I finally returned it - frustrated. The new one flew like a champ until I found an oak tree on the third flight. It's in a park in our neighborhood. I spent about half and hour throwing stuff at it. Lil K thought this whole scene was the funniest thing he had ever seen. I need to go back down there with some "equipment" and retrieve my damn plane.

They had this remote controlled boat that was about 2 ft long that I really wanted. It was much bigger than the X-stars and Air Nautiques they had, but also cost about twice as much. I kept dragging my son to all the things I liked instead of the things he really wanted to look at. :o

Broncos all depend on what your willing to pay....thats all that really matters, ive seen them for sale from $1000 on up close to $20,000.....it depends on what you want one for....ex: trail ride/mud buggy, or uncut original. but you might can find a nice one in decent shape for around $5k or $6k.

maybe this gives you and idea bcampbe7

I have been told those old broncos are worth twice as much with the stock rear wheel well openings???

ric i wouldnt say that they are worth twice as much with the uncut fenders, but to a certain extent they are worth more to collectors and such...i hope to acquire an uncut bronco one of these days to have to do a showroom condition restoration on...but dont worry guys, when we were looking for me a bronco we looked for the ones that were already cut out....my dad had one back in the 70s that he cut out and i guess hes always felt guilty about doing that....and since i was young and wanted the "cool" look we decided we'd get one already cut...funny tho that was the only half cab we looked at, and i actually wanted the full top model at the time....but now im glad i got the half cab version....Ric there are fewer of these half cabs since they were only made from 66-72...so i guess a uncut half cab would be worth maybe twice as much as a cutout later model full cab. maybe this explanation helps :)

I had an 73 and bought it in 77. As I remember they had a real rust problem back then. When I bought mine, it had just come out of the body shop and had both front fenders and both rear quarter panels replaced.
You can still buy replacement quarter panels, if you wantto do a uncut restoration.

I am in Ohio so it is fairly flat here; however when I pull to Cumberland in Kentucky there are some good hills and thats the last time I checked it and got 15.3. I usaully tow about 70 mph and NOT in overdrive.
This data came from towing my barefoot 200 and it was pretty light, boat, trailer and stuff probably about 2800-3000 lbs.

Wetbikes have a 60 hp 782 cc Suzuki outboard twin cycle engine hooked up to a jet drive. Once up on the hydro foils the bike will hit 32 mph. You do not steer them, but lean to turn just like a motorcycle.
The tough part is learning to get on the bike in the deep water and then getting the machine up on plane hydrofoiling.
Lots of fun and questions from anyone that sees it.
www.ondeckwatercrafts.com and look under Ultranautics which was the orginal company that built the machines.

Man, quit posting those sled pics! I'm drooling all over my desk, stuck down here in AZ! I'm jealous. I only got about 500 mi on my sleds last year and that req'd a trip to CO and one to WY.
Where up north are you from? (Pamida sign gave it away) I sold my XCR when I lived in Park Falls, WI. That one looks suspiciously similar, minus the head on with a tree.
Was the rear skid painted orange?

Last year I put 1500 miles on my F7. Do most of my riding around eagle river/st. germain wisconsin. I live in the suburbs of chicago, so it is about a 6 hour drive. The pamida sign is the pamida in eagle river wisconsin. The crashed sled wasn't from our group. Just took some pictures with it cause it was really messed up.

FIBs! Just Kidding. I grew up in Grayslake, IL (north burb). We will be making a trek back to WI for the holidays. Have a New Year's trip planned w/ some of my friends from IL. Not sure where we'll be riding; depends on the snow. Got reservations in Munising, MI as a back up in case the snow sucks everywhere else. Otherwise, we'll be riding Park Falls, Hurley, Mercer area. Can't wait to go. Unfortunately we'll be renting. It's just too far to drive and bring the sleds.

Memo, Sweet 930! Here's a pic of my old 935 - 2100 lbs., 836 HP +++ (depending on how high you turn up the boost), clocked at 218 mph across the start/finish line at Daytona (wife made me get rid of it because it was too fast) :steering: .

PS: Was just in a new Carrera GT last night, talk about a sweet ride - should be for $450K.

Thrall
10-07-2004, 10:49 AM
PS 82, Good luck if you want a Redline. They are bankrupt and out of business now. They have produced, I think 53 of them, and some are still available. The reviews on them are terrible though. The suspension is good at sucking up the moguls, but other than that they are not very good. The 800 is only 118hp (the big three are getting 140hp out of 700s and 800s stock). The track approach angle is huge, won't run in the powder at all, and you can actually see the track bunching up in front of the rear skid on acceleration (rear susp geometry is all wrong).

PS 82 & MCPS197,
I hadn't read all the posts in here 'til just now, but when I lived in CO, I rode mostly Vail Pass, Spring Creek (Best kept secret in CO), and Rabbit Ears. Also logged some good time in the Snowies and Togwotee, WY. MC, if you like riding in WI and haven't been riding in CO you gotta try it. You'll be hooked on powder riding. I have actually ridden in AZ this past winter, up in the White Mountains east of Show Low. There are hundreds of miles of forest roads and some good meadows. It was like spring riding in Jan. Sunny, 45 deg.
PS 82, you need to get those sleds out this year!

PS 82, you need to get those sleds out this year!
Thanks for the input on the Redline. I was always partial to Polaris anyway. The last few years we havent had the snow to use them, at least when I had the time to ride. Most of my riding friend have given up and sold theirs. All I got left are 2 little Yamaha Bravo's 250cc. 20 years old and less than 200 miles on each one. Not much fun to ride compared to the higher horsepower ones.

Thrall
10-07-2004, 12:56 PM
Sorry to keep hijacking the thread, but it's hard for me to pass up an opportunity to talk sleds. PS 82, what ever you do, don't sell those old Bravos for a song. Vintage sleds are starting to become quite popular. Anything older than mid eighties are going back up in value, especially low mi mint condition machines as I'm sure yours are w/ only 200 mi.
Also, those are about the best kids/beginner sleds around. They're very light weight and easy to handle.
I have to agreee w/ you about the high hp sleds though. My 800 RMK is pushing 155 hp (sea level) and it's a blast to ride. And that's low by todays standards. There are stock machines w/ 165hp and trailable mod sleds w/ 200hp. 'Course it's a directly related to how much $$ you put into them.

The sled is Arctic Cat's fastest production sled currently on the market. The only thing that is technically more powerful is the Mach Z 1000, but from the sounds of it after workin is done with his it will be able to take on the mach z in a race and win. Stock, the ZR 900 will go 110+.

Both bikes are Screamin Eagle version. The road king (red one) was at my dealership in Kenosha, WI. They made two versions of the road king in 2002 and they only made about 400 of the red ones. They are really hard to find. I wish I could have kept it, but I couldn't justify two bikes. The orange and black I actually bought from the Harley dealership in Carroll, IA because I couldn't get one around hear. I think the gas tank alone on that bike is almost $2000. I could have my entire bike painted for that.

Thanks for the explanation Eric. I haven't been on "In a couple hours" and I missed the conversation.
I have to add, this was the first year for this model with this engine. After the first year we figure AC said to themselves (this sled it too fast) so either they changed some things on purpose to slow them down, or they were trying to get ahead of themselves with technology and it was for the worse. They added what is called a Diamond drive, instead of a chain case. This lowered weight, but being gears it is harder to modify and very costly if it breaks. Rumor has it, it is pumping out near or over 155 horsepower on a sled that weighs in under a 500 pounds.
I intend to dyno it before and after the mods. Of course it needs to be broken in properly before anything gets done.

That is a "house of colors" color. And that is to the "T" what I intend to use with a silver base so it gives off that gleam to it. It is outstanding. By far the single most appealing color to me on a car or bike. (or boat)
There is a corvette near me with that sprayed on it, and I can never walk past it and think about my next car.

Glad I could help, I love snowmobiling....it is harder to work on them in the summer when you have a boat to play with.

How do you store yours?
I am looking into building a stackable rack or lift station in my shed for them. I have a winchable lift platform for the snowblower and lawnmower and seasonal stuff. But now it is getting out of hand and I need my shop space back. What do you do?

My 2003 F7 is in my parents garage in IL. And I leave the 2002 ZL 600 up at our resort in Northern WI.

The ZL is also stored out side. Wax and wash after the season is over, and alot of grease. Haven't had any issues with storing that one outside for the winter.

Lucky, I had a hard enough time getting a family member to let me store the boat in her garage, I don't think there is room for the sleds too, and the trailers yikes! Trying to figure it out. I will probably draw something up tonight and build it tomorrow.

Interesting, let me know what you come up with. I store the trailer outside. We have alot of land up at our property, so I get it into the shade and don't worry about it until fall. It is a open 2 place w/ salt shield. I would really like to get an enclosed trailer to store both sleds in there, but don't want to spend the money.

One of my buddies stores his F7 outside. Man does it look weathered more than I would ever expect for 2 years. We shall see what it looks like after 3 in a few months. I am working on a modification to the trailer. I have a 2005 12' drive on/off. I am thinking of cutting the tongue off and making it work similar to the MC trailer, swing away, so I can fit in in the shed with the sleds on in the winter, and I put the trailer in the yard for the other 9 months.

I will agree that the covers take a beating outside, but if the sled is covered it should appear worn??

Lots of rust, especially under the cover. Must trap the moisture inside.Next time I cruise by his place, I take a pic. Rather disturbing.

Luckily, I haven't had that problem. Makes me wonder that when he put it away there may have been some salt still on the parts.

Great Toys guys!
Just thought that I would mention that a friend and co-worker of mine has been collecting Oldsmobiles for many years.
His collection reached somewhere in the 25 car range.
Hurst 442's, Vista Cruisers, Convertables, you name it!
Half of them are projects the others are primo.
He is in the process of selling them to pay for daughters college.
If anyone is interested, PM me and I'll get you a list of what is left.
(He also has parts and engines).

he's got a company car but it's not all stickered up. those are the regular sales or delivery guys.
he gets hooked up big time by those guys. he just got back from the indy races at watkins glen this weekend. had full pit passes, sat next to ashley judd and hung out with the drivers for awhile. they put him up in some castle down there for lodging, all 100% paid for.
makes me think it's time to quit turnin wrenches and go sell red bull :toast:

hey gofast, go back on this thread, i have some pics of my camaro on here. That looks like a beast!

Very nice. I had a 69 RS/SS convertible that I did the 99 Hot Rod Power tour in. I also had the console with gauges. I really miss that car.

The 68 is all motor. 11.5 to 1, .40 over. Double hump heads. If a Harley pulls up next to you, you can't hear. Putting the front disk brake kit on this weekend. The the Sterio from Year one. Dual amps, disk changer, 12" sub. Yep, a fun car.

The Plane is a friend of mine. It's a 37 Waaco. Talk about fun. He has 4 other planes, does stunts mostly. The colors matched the Camaro so we did a photo shoot.

The Jeep is a blast. I used to spend a lot of time offroading. Moab, Clayton, Colorado, etc. The Explorer was really fun, did a V8 swap in it, but the cost of getting it to pass emissions was to high. So I sold it and put all the goodies on the Jeep.

My favorite of all is still the boat.
