I'm changing the oil in my 1992 prostar. Does any one have any suggestions as to what filter I should use? K&N, Royal Purple, Mobile 1? I have a Mallory filter on it right now but because its hard to get a hold of I wanted to switch it out for one I could get at the local auto parts store. As for the oil, its going to be one of the three, mobile one, royal purple or torco. 20w50. Any help would be great.

Motorcraft FL1A. As for oil, make sure it has enough ZDDP (Zinc) in it for your flat tappet cam's needs. I use Valvoline VR1 20W50. I think RP and Mobile 1 have comparable levels, but don't recall off hand. I think the Delo 400 does as well.

We all have our preferences. As for me ............. I believe what the owners manuel says.

I have more faith in the engineers that designed the engines than I do the AutoZone boy, or what anyone on the internet has to say.

They say ....................... SAE 30W
