View Full Version : Trailer Non-Skid/Rubber Traction Mat

Has anyone had a problem with their trailer traction rubber splitting?

My boat is stored indoors and the only time it sits outside is at the launch ramp while the boat is being used. I use 303 on it and usually scrub it with dishsoap because the hardwater from the river gets caught in there and seems to leave white calcium in the grooves.

My fiberglass swim platform has the same material, but I do not see any cracks in that.

Just noticed this the other day while checking stuff out.

I've recently seen a 06 X-15 and a 06 X-Star with the same problem, but on the swim platform, not on the trailer. My guess is the sun?

I vote for taking that stuff off and put some polished diamond plate on there.

I vote teak inlay.

I was thinking a sheet of diamond shaped Hydro-Turf (http://hydroturf.com/product_win.php?ID=SHT40MD&cat=Sheets%20of%20Hydro-Turf). Guess it is just one more thing to add to the project list.

This does bum me out though. I would understand the cracking if I left the boat outside and did not use any protectant on the stuff, but I take care of it and park it in a garage!

With the care you put into your rig it is surprising and disappointing.

I'll have to clean mine off to see if it is cracking.:o

Yeah, I just noticed the problem on mine this past weekend. Its only on one side though. I've got a 2007 MS200. It looks pretty similar to yours with very slight cracks. I'm going to watch it for a while to see how fast the crack increase in size.

I also have the same material on my deck however it appears to be in good shape.

I had the same problem with my 07 X-45. I removed the factory rubber mat, which took forever, and replaced it with the Hydroturf cut diamond.
