Hi i currently have a 2009 CSX 220. it come with a 3 blade 13x12. i find that the boat is a little sluggish out of the hole and doesnt perform to what id expect, to open up the throttle it not as snappy as id thought and also will only get to about 45mph. I thought by going a 6.0L it would do maybe 50mph????. i was thinking of changing this to a 4 blade 14.75 x 15.5 like what is standard on a Xseries with a 6.0L. Does anyone have any recomendations for the best prop. or if you have a csx220 currenlty what speeds and performance are you getting out of it.

thanks

Go directly to the man that knows, Eric Johnson @ http://www.ojprops.com/contact_us or contact him by pm, EJ OJPROP, http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/member.php?u=1537
Be prepared to give him any info he may need, like boat model and year, engine size, current prop, function (skiing, surfing, boarding, etc.), ballast use, passengers, etc. He need it to determine the best prop for YOUR application.

Agreed, call Eric at OJ.

But the 6.0 is known to be a little more sluggish out of the hole.

The LQ-9 and the Crusader 6.0 agreed. But the LY6 is an animal. 50 MPH in a CSX is pushing it. Mid 40s yes. If Eric can get you to 50 MPH in a CSX w/ a 6.0 I would like to
hear about it

When I was at fanfare I drove the 14V. They asked me what I thought. I said it felt like a dog out of the hole compared to my 14DD. I wasn't bashing it, I was impressed overall, that was my only negative comment. Mike explained that it was because of the LY6, not due to the V-Drive config. :confused:As others can attest, I'm no boating genius.;)

I never meant to imply that I thought 50 was achievable. I thought 45 was impressive. My '09 only reaches 42 according to ZO, but I'm running my old 3 blade prop from my '08. The new 4 blade is going to the doctor. I don't know if it will get me more or less top end.

What is the max RPM the 13 X 12 will turn? Changing to the 14.75 X 15.5 will decrease the low end worse than the 13 X 12. The top end of 45 MPH is pretty good with that boat.

I tried 3-4 different props because I have an 07 220 with 6.0 Crusader. The original 13x12 3Blade gives plenty of hole shot, but only went 45 or so and RPM's would get really high at high speed.

Any other prop(OJ 4 Blade and a couple ACME's- sorry don't know exactly which) I tried ended up with ZERO hole shot, but would go much faster and lower RPM's at top speed, but I am on an inland lake and have no need for speed.

The other props wouldn't pull 2 tubers out of the hole, and struggled with a large wakeboarder. After much messing around, I went back to the three blade and am very happy. Can pull 3 fat guys on boards up in a snap...

Good Luck!

If the other props went "much faster" than 45 you probably need to calibrate your speedo's. Unless you are running the L18, which I'm not sure is offered in the 220.

Agreed- faster is relative- my speedo is calibrated and accurate in the low 20's- who know's what is actual in the 40's, but for sure I was faster with lower RPM's with the others- that being said- ZERO hole shot with all three 4 blades I tried, and I don't need speed......

It seems to just get to 5400PRM far to easily. hole shot is ok, my old 2008 X2 with the mcx beats this out of the hole. and its running the standard 14.25 x 14.5, i thought maybe i could change the prop just to give it a bit better mid range pull and top end. ideally we are going to be towing many wakeboarders but want it for all round crusing and top end performance. as long as it will pull 1 wakeboarder up on the odd occasion it will be ok. but definitly prefer the top end speed and mid range pull.

Here's the same thread I had last year- might help some....

i have tried now a few props and the prop that we found to be the best for out usage was the OJ 4 Blade 14.25x14. The boat is doing 33mph at 2800RPM and tops out at 46mph at 4600RPM. We also tested hole shot pull for skier and wakeboarder, It pulled 2 big guys up on the wakeboard and also was no problem pulling up a 120kg guy on a slalom ski.

So we are decided to go with this for our needs.

I know this is an old thread but I'm having a similar prob. 07 CSX 220 w 6.0 crusader and I use it for surfing. Stock prop feels sluggish and won't get above 12 mph and around 4000 rpm when heavily weighted. I need a prop for lower rpm when weighted. Thanks
