View Full Version : 197 Prop Change

I'm considering switching from my original prop (OJ 14 X 20) to an OJ 13.7 X 17.5. I have spoken with Eric at OJ and he has been extremely helpful in recommending this switch. Reason for the switch is to gain more RPM. Indmar's manual recommends WOT close to 4800. My WOT is 4350...always has been. The manual also states that if WOT is not near the high end of the 4400-4800 range, the propeller pitch may be too high...thus my motive.

I'm seeking comments from anyone who has made this switch already that can offer factual performance comparisons.

Iv'e got the 13.7 on my 197 and it's an animal and it is running on the RTP. This thing could pull stumps (and maybe it would if it weren't for sale).

I can't tell you how fast is goes, or how high the rpm's get. I just don't get there that often, and the hole for that boat is currently occupied by the X2. What I CAN tell you is that that prop rocks on the 197.

I'll be installing the OJ 13.7x17.5 XMP 4-blade this weekend.
