Does anyone know someone who does good upholstery at a fair price around Milwaukee, WI? We just our first Mastercraft and it definitely needs some new upholstery. Thanks!

Bump.. The best advice I can give you is to either remove the cushions or hook up the boat and drive to several different shops and ask for quotes. It would also help to go ahead and tell them you will buy the vinyl on your own if they will give you specs on how much you need. (that will keep them from putting a markup on materials) Make sure to ask them the thickness they like to work with. The only reason I say remove the cushions (and motor box) You can save money by them not having to uninstall and reinstall..

thanks, I think i'll just end up taking the boat around to different places and getting estimates. I got one estimate for $2,400 and I thought that was a little high.

Yep, that is a little high, remember. the more work and leg work you are willing to do, the more you can save. When they see that it is a boat, the automatically add an additional 50 to 75%. One of my best friends is an upholstry guy/ boat repairman, but unless you want to burn 500 bones in gas and a couple days he will not be of much help..

no, not yet. i'm looking in northern wisconsin hoping to find a better price. the prices i got in the milwaukee area have been ridiculous. i've also heard that its cheaper if you buy the material yourself. are you looking to reupholster ksdaoski?

actually, we took it to a lady in northern wisconsin (Florence, if any of you are familiar). she does the work out of her garage, and I have had a few recommendations that she does pretty good work. She is doing the upholstery and her son is doing the carpet work. I ordeder the upholstery off of an ebay store (very good quality) and the carpet i got matches the original and i bought that from a local carpet store. I am also adding speakers that I am posting my progress on in the electrical threads. The upholstery schemes i am mixing from a 92 prostar 190 and the engine cover from a mid-90's prostar. I'll keep you posted on how the progress is coming.

Be curious to know. There are a lot of people on here, including me that would love to have a source for our boats. I am lucky for the most part my interior is pretty good for being original. But the time will come.

I dropped my 88 Prostar 190 at Viper on Friday. Jim is going to replace the interior carpet and reupholster most of the interior along with some minor mechanical work. I was very impressed with Jim and his shop. I'll post some pictures when I get it back next month.

deereman

for the upholstery she is charging about $350 for labor and it is getting recarpeted for $75 in labor. i supplied all the materials needed for it except the foam for the seats (vinyl, carpet, glue, new wood if necessary.

im also making new side panels to incorporate the new speakers i am installing. i'll post pics next time i work on em

Zach,

Really interested to see how this turns out. I may be looking to have mine redone next fall. If you are happy with the work I wouldn't mind checking it out. For that kind of price a drive up north might be in order. Can't wait to see the pics.

Joe
