1997 PS205 alternator Upgrade

Sorry to bring it up again, but I am at the end of the road to if my 1997 PS 205's alternator can be upgraded. My local MC dealer told me that there is no option to upgrade due to the 90 amp upgrade not being compatable with the 1997 LT1 motor. They actually tried to install a new 90 amp alternator and kit that they got from MC but it did not fit. There must be someone out there that has had the stock 51 amp alternator replaced and I am looking for some advice. Anything to send me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Bryann, I am in the same position, 96' 190 w/ LT1. I also need to upgrade my alternator. Did you find out any more info.? Does anyone else have some thoughts / ideas?
