Strut alignment ??

Hey all,

I know the strut has tappered holes so I'm wondering if it is self aligning? I ask because when I put my new strut and the propshaft seems to aim to the right side of the through-hole. Even with the log pack completely removed it aims off to the right.

I loosened all the bolts for the strut and push it to the left. I put a rope around the shaft to hold it in this position and will tighten it up to see if it helps at all.

Any ideas on this?

I am not aware of tapered holes in the strut, other than struts with regular holes and they have countersinks for the flat head/tapered bolts to sit in, installed in the holes in the hull in one position only, then the engine is aligned to the shaft/strut position.

Yeah, I guess the holes are just countersunk is what I meant. The screws that go in them have a tapper going towards the threads.

The propshaft alignment done on the motor side was right on. Even when I unbloted it from the trasmission it didn't move.
