Can anyone tell me where the fuel filter is on a 2008 prostar 197 and if it's easy to change?
I haven't looked for it yet, but thought that someone might point me in the right direction.
Thanks!

If your fuel pump is in the gas tank, the fuel filter sits on the bottom of the pump. Look for a metal circle on the top of your gas tank. Unscrew the bolts to access the pump/filter.

Pull out the trunk floor in the rear ski locker and the fuel tank is there. Like Sands said, look for the circle with 10-12 allen heads...

It is a little easier and cleaner with the less gas you have in the tank.

I assume it is the same on an 05 197?

Yes. The 2005 will be the same.

They do not make these boats to work on them anymore!! A lot is hard to get to or they want you to take it to the dealer for everything.
Thanks again.
How often have you changed yours?

Just changed it for the first time about 3 weeks ago. I still do not have 100 hours on my boat, but I figured it would be better to do it now, rather than in the middle of summer.

I'm pretty sure my owner's manual says change annually (2005), so I've been doing it every year. Knock on wood, I haven't had any fuel pump issues either - I'm hoping this is why. Apparently the filter elements can plug easily because they block some pretty small micron-level stuff...then if you run your tank down below a quarter tank, the fuel pump works harder and can burn out from what other threads on here discuss.

Does anyone have a part number for the fuel filter. Is it a part that has to come from MC or are there after market ones?
Thanks
