Anyone be to Lake Oroville (CA) yet? How is the water level. I went online to make reservations in the Bidwell camp ground for 4th of July. There is a warning that to launch a 4x4 is recommended. I will be going up with a RV so that won't work. Also, last year we were up there in August and it was a hike from the camp sites to the Marina, a steep hike.

Fellas,
I live above Lake Oroville, In fact I am looking at it right now. It is currently higher than its highest point last year and is still rising. It actually rose about 15ft this week, with the current round of storms. As for the 4th of July, you should be fine. The launch ramps typically don't fall to the lower levels until late August or Early Sept. Last year while the lake was at it's lowest point in over 20years, the State put in another launch ramp to accomodate these low levels at the Bidwell Marina Launch Ramp. Bottom line, I don't think we will need a 4wd to launch anytime soon.

I live in the bay area and my local paper gives lake levels. Today it said Oroville was almost 70% full. I don't think you will have a problem especially if Hollo says it still filling up with run off

I live on lake Oroville and it is higher than it was last year at this time. You can launch at loafer Creek ramp and there isn't as much boat traffic as Bidwell and the dam ramps. I live two minutes from bidwell but still drive over to loafer for the convenience and the ramp can accomidate 4 boats launching at once.
This is the first year in ten we will not be on the lake for the 4th. We are heading up to Lake Almanor for some cooler weather.
Lake oroville should be good to go for the 4th. Have fun!

Lake Oroville levels are fine, but I must comment that the best water is found out on the rivers. Depends on what you are doing though...

That is why Northern California is great, lots of options.
