Should I get a tower or an extended pylon? I have an 1986 mastercraft that I am looking to put a tower on. Do all towers fold down, I keep my boat in garage.

extended pylon....easier cheaper and does the same thing. Unless you want racks and speakers.....

Extend the pylon. My vote is no on the tower

I have an extended pylon on my 83 S&S that I welded "speaker holder bars" on. It works great and holds a set of wetsounds. The tower does look alot better though even on an older boat but I didn't have the money. I don't think it ruins the look of a classic but some do.

Buy a custom bimini top for $600-$700 52-54 high from the floor. Add a zipper to the bimini top for a extended pylon. You will keep the boat original and hold its resale value better

Thanks I'm going with the extended pylon.

Good choice and in the long run, you'll find out why.

Should I go with stainless steel or aluminum? Aluminum is about $100 less than stainless.

The decision has been made I guess. I agree, I'd go with extended pylon on that year.

I have a similar question... I have a 2000 205V and wonder what you guys think I should add? My kids think that the pylon looks "getto"... I'd like to save the money. Thoughts???

For your boat, unless you are ready to drop some pretty good cash at monster towers.. Or some other tower mfg.. Your best bet is the pylon..

A tower will look great on that boat. Essentially the same as today's X1.

You also get some additional weight with a tower. But my 83 SS has a pylon with 400# of shot bags 40/60 front to rear and my friend likes it better than his 84 with a tower. Good luck and keep the swim step under water.

I will second the motion for a full tower on that boat. If you can swing it go with the New Dimension tower or you may even check with a few of the dealers to see if they can still get a MC tower (made by New Dimension I believe). They look great on that boat and will add a lot of functionality to it for wakeboarding, board racks, speakers, lights, bimini or whatever. I would think that it would ultimately bring a higher price at resale time also.:twocents:

without any question whatsoever get a decent tower for the 2000 205V. add some sacks and perfect pass and you have the second best wake in the current MC lineup. you will have the exact equivalent of an original xstar. surpassed only by the current style xstar. pleae don't let someone talk you into putting a pylon on that boat (unless it is dogged out and soon to be ready for an extensive/all-around overhaul or mothballing). oh yeah, i would also think a mini tower on that boat would be a major mistake also.
