I need to replace the safety chains "cables actually" on my trailer. All I can find is 48" chain instead of cable; is this ok and will it work? Does it connect to the trailer the same way??

Cables are everywhere. Check West Marine or here (http://shop.easternmarine.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.prodInfo&productID=5149&categoryID=217).

I think I have even seen the cables in Home Depot.

I just got back from west marine and all they have is chains. Thats why I asked the question. But there is a utility trailer dealer near by; I'll check there. Thanks.

That's odd. Mine carries cables, just like these. Here's a source for you:

They have Class II to Class IV cables.

When you buy a pair of cables, they only ship two right hand wound cables, so you have to unwind one of the cables to make a left hand cable so you will have a symmetrical set.

Here is another source for you if you are looking for something different than the others have mentioned. This is what I have on my trailer: http://www.dhmtrailers.com/online/home.php?cat=69

Called around locally, no cables anywhere. Was hoping to get this taken care of this weekend; soooo, would it be all the same I just got the chains instead of the cables? Im guessing they attach the same way? If all else fails, I'll just order some cables; thanks.

Don't forget to get out the digital scale to make sure they are the same weight. Wouldn't want the trailer to feel like its leaning.
