Hey guys hows things. Aint been on here since last summer but now summer is around the corner we are going to try and sort out the mess we call a boat dock. Below are some pics of a basic idea of what the dock looks like and what i am thinking of trying to do. But what would be the best way for use to go about this. The reason we are changieng it around is because it has a 2 12x2x16 boards that support the boat. Problem being is they bow like bambo when the boat it between them and they dont look like they are far from breaking.

Here's a pick of me tyring to do a quick repair job buy connecting both with a brace. You may be able to see we have the standard type of supports 90% of docks seems to have.

Any idea of the way to go about changeing this or upgradeing it would be great as im almost sure most of you guys prob done the same thing.

Lol thanks Dude. Dam thing fell off the boat dock last year when a cable failed. It was also so heavy that it bent a set of 3 10"x2" headers in 1ft either side  The people who built the dock were cowboys.

I think that the dock belongs to East TX Skier but i could be wrong, if a TT member owns it you wont have to wait to long to get an answer.

Whoo, that boats too expensive to not to have a proper lift. When I bought my lift, the previous owner had an I/O. I had to do some fabricating to switch from a I/O to a DD. Wasn't too difficult to do...I used the general concept from another lift to mirror the pattern for mine. Looking at Eastie's lift, I would say it would work for your boat. Granted, his boat weighs about 2,000 pounds less then yours. I'd add some extra supports to brace the weight. Oh, and use stainless steel staples so they don't rust out....

And use aluminum so it doesn't weigh as much as the boat.

Well i went and took some measurements from the dealers trailers and started the job today. Should have it done tommorow

And use aluminum so it doesn't weigh as much as the boat.

I would have liked to have used alloy but couldnt find any grade strong enough to take the weight of the boat without it being way oversized. I ended up getting some 3"x1.5" steel c channel and bolting that to the cross members. Pretty dam strong and only added about another 40lbs to the lift weight. We sometimes have a boat full of people 10-16 most times and full tank of fuel. I aint added up total weight but it must be a dam lot. Our water level drops low here and sometimes the people have to stay on the boat until lift is at correct hight to step off.

Nice looking lift you have. Did you paint it grey? Is it aluminum under the paint or steel? If it's steel I would suggest a glavanized coating. You wont want to repaint it after it starts to rust if its metal. There is also a brush on product called Jasco Termin 8. It's great for boat bunks and docks. Keeps mold, moss and fungas from growing. Put on over normal pressure treated wood.

From there site.

Termin-8 is oil-based and slow-drying for deeper absorption. Use above or below ground on exterior wood; old, new and end cuts of pressure-treated wood. Paintable when fully absorbed and surface is dry, normally 2-7 days depending on wood porosity. Protects from rot, moss, mildew, fungus, and marine organisms, swelling and warping. Termin-8 seals wood and repels water, and is a Creosote substitute. Uses include: boats, docks, doors, windows, frames, shingles, shakes, stairs, sills, porches, fences, posts, flooring, patio-furniture, plywood, & pressure-treated wood.
