I am looking at a Mastercraft 195 and did a search on here with no luck on info. Can anyone tell me about this boat? Does this hull "have issues" like some of the 98's did? Any info would be really appreciated!!

I'm not sure when you ask if it has issues what you mean? I have a 2000 PS 195, and have found it is an excellent all-around hull. I am not a short-line slalom skier, but slalom some, wakeboard some and the kids and their friends do some tubing. I have no problems with it.

Thanks for the input. I was referring to the 98 190 Hull, do you know if this boat has the same hull as the 1998 190?

are the supposed issues based on performance or quality. I would like to upgrade in a few years, and I like the look of these years. I am in no way a good enough slalom skier to notice any difference in hulls. Heck, I'm probably not good enough on two skis to notice any difference :D

In everyones opinion would you be worried about a 2000 model with only 58 Hours on it?

Lloyd, thanks for the input. Can you tell me if your boat has a ski locker in the back compartment behind the rear seat?

Yes, it does. It opens out from the middle (if that makes sense). We Generally use it for a fat sack for wakeboarding. I wouldn't be that worries about the low hours, if it was properly maintained the hours shouldn't matter that much. One of the things I do like is that the observer's seat goes all the way across to the driver's seat. Although, since the boat is narrow, the walk-through to the bow is a little narrow.

I believe the 195 is based on the SportStar, which is the same hull as the 95--97 Prostar 190.
But I could be wrong......

If I am remembering correctly the 2000 Prostar 195 is actually the same hull as the previous years Sportstar open bow i.e. the 95-97 hull. Jim@BAWS should be able to confirm or deny.

Powerslot and I were posting at the same time. Great minds think alike.

That is correct. Based on the 1999 Sportstar 19 Open Bow. 95--97 Prostar hull.

I am turning into such the skeptic...it looks to me like Jrandol is using a proven strategy to get into the top-ten posters. From the 900 posts thread Jrandol says, " 700 Posts, here I come!!" I think he's batt'n for 1500.

But! Now that Erk has his boat, we need someone else to work on.

in 2000 i was comparing the mb 190plus and mc 195. i went with the mb because it had a locking rear locker and a full play pen seating in the bow. at the time i used to go out on the delta and stop at various marinas, i didn't want my stuff to get stolen. it also cost about 3K more. otherwise i really liked that boat. looks really nice.

I hear you about both issues. I have thought about converting the bow to a full playpen...I doubt it would be that difficult.

Rod, was MB still using the 91--93 Prostar hull at that point?

i dont think so, i know the early brendellas were based on an mc hull.

Sorry, did I have that wrong? I thought MB bought that design from MC after they put it out to pasture in 95. Anybody know if I've got my facts right, and if so, how long they used that hull?

Jrandol: Since the two front seat bases are flat, and held by a through bolt at the bottom, I think it would be easy to make a custom playpen. Also, since there are no front speakers in the bow, I got a pair of front/rear facing tower speakers, which was a really nice upgrade! Let me know if you have other questions...I'll be glad to help.

i dont know you maybe right. sounds like something mike brendel would do since the early brendella hulls were basically an 85 mc. im pretty sure my 190plus was not though.

MB is/was Brendella. MB are the initials of the guy Michael Brendella maybe?? I'm not sure I remember the first name correctly.

I've always if the Calabria Pro Comp was my hull, maybe the windshield just looks too similar. I heard a rumor that the old Magnum Skier was the 80's MC hull... anyone else hear that?

Um... right, back to the 195.

yes, mb are his initials. he started brendella which was sold to "US marine" i think, which is calabrai boats. then he started mb sports. the first one was that ugly green metallic boss 190 which may have been a mc hull.

195 HULL is a Sportstar OPEN bow. Same as PS 190 hull for 1995-1997.
The New PS 190 HULL came out in 1998. Then came the SPORTSTAR/19 SKIER/195 hull ALL THE SAME

Jim, what years did they sell SportStar open bow; I thought they started in 99. Did SportStar open bow and PS 195 sell side by side, along with X-5/19 Skier? Seems like allot of models for one hull! It also seemed like the opebow had newer more modern interiors that closed bow SportStarís, what year did the closed bow get the newer interior? My interior(dash & seat) seems just like 95-97 PS 190's. Jamie
