Hi,

I'm thinking about buying an old classic truck, partly as a resto project, partly because i want a pickup but don't want to have two vehicles.

My question is this... will a '74 2WD F150 with a 302 pull my 08 X2? Will i have any issues with it being 2WD getting stuck on slippy ramps or anything?

Thanks,
T

For a very long time I used a 78 Ford F-150 2wd and always made in off the ramp. Mine was a standard trans so it could be a little tricky sometimes. The boat my Dad had at the time was a big VIP runabout. It weighed more than the X-2.

If you have some decent tires you shouldn't have any problems at the boat ramp. If you do spin the tires just have a few onlookers hop in the back to add some traction. It won't be a speed demon on the highway. By 74 that 302 was low on hp and torque so it may be a little lacking on a long grade or trying to pass on a two lane hwy. On the bright side it is a simple engine to give a boost in the performance dept. An Edelbrock Performer intake (or similar) and a 600 cfm carb, along with a good dual exhaust will more than take care of any factory performance shortfall.
