I typically disconnect my batteries when I pull the boat out of the water. When I then reconnect the batteries and turn on the ignition, the stereo comes on at near full volume. It is highly annoying. The stereo is turned before I pull the boat out of the water and disocnmnect the batteries, but defaults to on and high volume as soon as I connect the batteries.

The stereo remains at it last settings if I just turn off the ignition and do not disconnect the batteries.

How can I stop the stereo from defaulting to on and loud after a battery disconnect? Thanks.

I think I saw this on that movie Christine years ago about the haunted car. Anyone ever die in the boat?;)

There should be a setting in the radio where you can tell it at what volume you want it to start at.

isn't there an "always on" hot wire coming off the head-unit? this may not help with a battery switch, but i would think you could wire it so it's always getting power. i know i had one on my clarion M475. it's my understanding this wire keeps your settings in volital memory from being erased from a power disconnect.

That's correct, it's the yellow wire.

The Red wire is your switched power, which tells the deck when to turn on and off, etc.

do you disconnect the battery every time you pull the boat out of the water? If so why?

my guess is he's got a manual switch, which is essentially the same thing as pulling the terminals.
