I can tell you now, your best bet is peer pressure. Find a kid who likes to ski or kneeboard or tube and let them go first. Once your child sees how much fun they're having they'll want to get in and do it too.

My daughter refused to do anything other than swim off the platform, then one day one of we go out with one of her freinds who had a kneeboard and all of a sudden "I never let her do that".

Good luck!

Just got my boat back from the factory - It's a 2002 -209 that had some bad gel coat. I had it repaired byt the dealer after the first season on the water in '03 and when I got it back the colors did not match - spots all over. So, with the help of the dealer I sent it back to MC this winter, alon with a disposable camera and these are some of the pictures they took.

you should get the running gear out of the water if you can, it'll prevent galvanic corrosion.

Here is the wake at 20mph will full stock ballast, I think 650 Lbs. Someone correct me if I am wrong. We are hoping to get out soon and try this wake out, we've yet to be behind this boat. It was really windy this day too, so the wake is not so good. Hoping to get some good photos of us soon off this wake.

Very true. Works especially well on the boys if the fearless rider/ringer is a girl. We have two fearless nieces that completely eliminated the fear factor in our nephew.

Different style lift, but we lift it far enough out of the water to keep anything and everything away from the running gear and out of the boat altogether. We then cut the power at the house once the sun goes down.

Luckily my wife actually encouraged me to keep the hobby after we got married...as long as I am editing the video, getting it burned to DVD and making a little money at it, she's alright with it. So I'm working on DVD #1...And now I've got a new MC and a nice lake for some video shoots...

Looking for models in the Atl area that wants to take a boat ride!!! WooHooo!!! :purplaugh

When I went to pick up my boat, the dealership I purchased from was receiving a custom-built X-80. Those things are ENORMOUS!!! It had a triple axle trailer. I was awe-struck for a good 3 or 4 minutes.

Jay, I Agree with you on the amount of time being spent.

My family purchased our first mastercraft right after i turned 17, It was a 2002 x star. my parents had their own boat and I was the only one who ever used the x star. I was pretty serious about wakeboarding and rode in some tournaments. I was on the lake at least 4 days a week, and most of the time 6 days, we sold our x star in 2004 with almost 400 hours on it and it wasn't evan 2 years old. my parents got divorced a couple years ago so now it's just me and my dad and he has a couple other boats, so i think he's been on the X 80 once since we got it, and it was when I took him and a few friends diving for the first time. the boat is almost a year old and it has like 55-60hrs on it. so that is a testiment that it rarley gets used, most of the time he and a few friends and the GF just go up to the lake for the weekend and sit around and drink beer I'm putting the x 80 up for sale after this weekend, and I'm going to order a new X2 after it sales. I'm getting back into wakeboarding, so the x2 will fit the quite a bit better, and it will fit in the garage at school so i can take it with me, and ride at school!!

While that may be generally true. There are exceptions to every rule (learned that in law school). :)

By the way, what courses make up "pre-law." That's not a major is it? Forgive my ignorance on the subject. When I was undergrad, there were some courses that fell under the category of premed, but it was not a degree that you could get. Same went for the idea of prelaw. I took maybe two of them (one of them pass fail), majored in English Lit., and went straight through to law school. Just curious as to how it works where you are? What university/college are you attending currently?

Lets hear about your bimini top support bars, I want to do that.

Timbo,

After talking to Big Daddy MarkP I decided to go with the stanchions instead of rear nylon straps. On my other bimini top I had the nylon straps and it was a pain to put the boot on the top, lie the top forward on the windshield and then tie it down. With the stanchions you just unhook the front nylon straps, push the top back and put the boot on. I've towed at 70mph and it does fine. I strongly recommend them for anyone. When I ordered the new bimini from Johnson I had them incorporate them. You can order a set out of Overton's and all you do is screw them into the boat with 2 screws.

east tx skier,

I'm currently attending the University of Arkansas, There is no degree that is actually pre-law, but on my major it says business/pre-law, when i graduate i will have a BA in Business, I just finished my second year, and will be attending summer classes. by the time I have my full four years, and proably an extra summer, so a total of 4.5 years in college I will have a MBA, and from there I will go to Law School, 3 more years there and I will be out in the real world!!

so a total of 4.5 years in college I will have a MBA,

So you're going to have an Undergraduate degree in buisness and then a Masters in Buisness Administration (MBA) all finished in 4.5 years? Did I read that correctly? Man that is cranking through some work fast.

sounds good and Ryan, I think what you'll have is a BBA, not a BA in Business(unless they do it differently in fayetteville) and then it's on to your MBA.

Is that some sort of accelerated MBA program for undergrad business majors? I'm working on mine right now at the University of Florida, and it's a 27 month program which I thought was pretty good. It took me almost 3 years to get me MSEE, but half of that was done part-time.

Ric, did I forget the story behind that:confused:

Well I didn't write a book about it on here but it all started about 8 months ago..............
The short version is that my new one came in and dealer's service guys messed it up so after many attempts to repair and lonnng discussions about what was to be done, the owner stepped up and said "I will get you a new boat on order and you can use my team boat in the interim". Darryl Moore is one of the good guys. His employees may forever hate me but I could care less about that. The man did what was right and my first new boat I've ever bought will be as ordered when I pick it up.

My sister had them on her tri-star till it pealed (sp?) open from a bad saftey switch that got found

I purchased my 90 tristar new.. It had the big fiberglass muffler that sat behind the engine and connected the two exhausts together.. It started leaking right after I bought it and the MC dealer told me there was a newer model and replaced it NC.. As I said above, this was a long time ago, and I have to assume here that it was defective and being replaced by MC or the Manufacturer.... Rick

Datdude, thats a nice lookin boat.

Where do you normally take it out?

Also since you work at lakeside just curious how much the dock bumpers are? The ones that are real tall and white. We have a 100 somethign foot dock and it sits kind of high off the water with telephone pole size pilings and its almost impossible to tie up to the dock without hiting the pilings. I think the bumpers would help keep the boat off of the dock so we don't have to put it into the lift everytime we are done skiing.

Oh and the boat:

Hey, that's my boat! You steal it this week? In all seriousness, did you ever bring this boat down to Nacimiento when you first got it?

Rod, where did you get it? When they were first issued, each State got two blues and two reds. We saw the blue, a Nor. Cal guy had it when we first purchased the boat up at Naci.

I thought I had previously posted to this thread. Anyways, here is a picture of our MC taken last weekend at Lake Don Pedro in California.

this boat was originally purchased brand new on the east coast somewhere, he drove it out here when he moved.

still looks brand new...does it still have the original carpet? We have covered our orignial up to keep it from fading out.

betsy, you might want to post that little tidbit on the "you know you're a MC owner if" page. ;)

That said, I completely understand.

i believe everything is original . carpet could use a stem clean but otherwise good. one tear in the back seat along the back edge which is hardly noticeable. i love the boat and i get more complimanets on thsi one than the 04. i guess because it rare and my 197 is a dime a dozen around here. the thing has better pull up power than my lq9 w/ powerslot and i have a 240hp without powerslot. im debating whether or not to sell it at the end of the year. the more i use it the less i want to sell and upgrade.
