I was on a deep sea fishing boat (twin inboards) where the captain had each main throttle on one side or the other of the console. When he came into dock (reverse) he stood with his back to the wheel, and worked the main engines only, using thrust to spin the boat around, worked the throttle like he was driving a Bobcat.

My moms pontoon is in a slip with about 4 inches clearence on either side. the metal rall on the deck rubs the steel cable for the lift on the way in no matter how well you load it or how still the water, its just that tight a fit. When the main lake is white capping into her cove, it gets real exciting trying to get it loaded.
