what kind of speakers? need to know their power ratings.
How loud, from how far away, which speakers (as asked before), how long will you play it this loud, etc? It all matters.
My friend has a business that refurbs vintage and classic car radios and he sells amps, and accessories. He found an amp that sounds really good and for some reason, it seems to be more efficient than most amps of the same class (Class AB). Reasonably priced, too.

I was just about to start a thread on the same topic, but I'll add to this one. I just installed two tower cans with 7.7 JL Audio speakers. They are rated for 100 watts (RMS). I have the factory Clarion head unit and no amps. I plan to add a sub, but not at the moment. I'm looking at 3 JL Audio amp options: A 2 channel JL Amp 85 watts, and later add another amp for the sub, a 4 channel amp and connect 2 channels to the speakers, and connect the other two channels to power the interior speakers, or I have been talking to 'Go Red' about his 6 channel he's trying to sell.
