I just got a set of these from a buddy and have been a little hesitant to mount these on my boat based on the fact they donít sit flat like the OEM lights. Has anyone installed these or a similar product? I would want to run the wire straight into the hull so it is a clean install. My fear is that this could create problems down the road with water coming in etc. Any advice would be great!

Not too stoked on the plastic lens and construction. If it were mine, I would put those up on ebay and try to go for a set of Abysslites.

i know that you could probably mount that dude on your boat and never have an incident but the day i got it mounted something weird would happen and i'd break that plastic and then i'd just have a $120 hole in my boat...

I agree with you both, and kind of what I was thinking. Sodar what do the Abyss lights run for a set? They are a lot nicer looking.

$420 for a set is a lot. I got mine for about half that this last summer.

You are right, that is only 1 light.

There was some lady in Northern California back in August that was selling them for $175/set... I am thinking that WakeX2Wake and I got them from the same place.

I would also love to replace the interior lights with LED like you did, but if they are this costly this project starts to add up! what lights did you use for the interior?

haha unfortunately i paid for those dudes... i got the m400s direct from abyss lighting... the folks there were very helpful... i've got to figure something out about that rear light though... when you look back it can kind of blind you and i'm gonna come up w/ something to block the light from shining so brightly upward but still put out a lot down... kind of like those restaurant light bulbs that are silver on the bottom so the over head table lighting isn't shining directly in your eyes... and i don't remember how much i paid but it hurt my feelings a little bit until i got them installed

haha didn't even see this... mine actually came from knoxville, tn... i'd love to find another set at the price i got mine for just to be honest (i think it was around $150-$200 for the pair)... i'd like to sit on them for a while and see about possibly getting more light back there... i think most of the pics you see in the advertisements are the bigger lights... b/c those dudes are putting off some crispy light... mine look decent but it could be that i've only seen them in murky water

Yes, I did my own install. Make sure you have the correct template and all should go swimmingly! :D The install is very easy.

if you do your own install... might want to be ready for some anal fatigue after the drilling portion...

I just had two of the blue bullet lines transom lishts installed and they look great. Supposedly these are brighter and require less energy than comparable Abyss lights. I got mine for $125 each but I see the price has gone up in the last month or so. just another option for ya...

Maybe its been done before in another thread but I would love see some nice pics of some of the members boats in the water with lights on. I imagine not that great in lakes, depending on the water I could be wrong, but clear blue water should look nice. Maybe help some of us on the fence take the leap to purchasing them.

The lights are as spectacular on top of the water while the boat is on plane, as it is sitting still. With all the transom splash, exhaust water and steam, it looks like a lightning storm going on underneath the platform. We followed JohnE in his new X-14, with blue lights up the lake in the dark last year @ CSM '08 and it was sweet!:twocents:

THis one is white instead of blue. I think the blue wavelength is generally less absorbed by water so it shines better...I guess that is why water looks blue?

I have a set for $240 (New)

these are both pics of the boat on plane... sorry for the picture quality but was shooting w/ a pretty cheap digital that i'm sure was designed for sorority girls to take snapshots of them acting wasted at a frat party somewhere hugging 15 of their best friends

Shot at still with mine... if I had to guess, I would say the glow extends out at least 15' past the swim platform. I kept the lights on while my boat was at anchor and we could see the glow from the RV park about 300 yards way.

Has anyone fished off the platform after they have been on for a while??
