So i pulled the raw water pump off and extracted several vanes from the engine block water passages.....ironically the pump isn't in bad shape......i would actually say its in great shape (over sized hole in the pulley mounting flange and the vane less impeller aside).........But I had a challenge identifying exactly which pump it is.............apparently this engine gets its water pump from its "Escort" side of the family........ its not a standard PCM part for a 351.......

according to Skidim it uses impeller part number #0713. http://www.skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=RP061017
..... if anyone else has this pump and can confirm this it would be greatly appreciated before i order the part

Because we have several dealers on TT that would be my first choice. That being said if Skidim says that is the part you can take it to the bank. Great company to do biz with.

I second what Bruce said about Skidim...........Vince knows his stuff there.

No doubts about the knowledge base of skidim....just would like someone who has the same pump to give me the ole thumbs up and say.........oh yea been there before...thats the right impeller....

On another note........i am debating replacing my fuel pump...........which unlike most of my boat.........is likely original equipment. I found a spring in the large fuel bowl.........which i cannot rationalize where it originated from.

I know i will get advice like........."was there fuel in the tube which connects to the flame arrestor" ........to which i can say........if there was.........i don't know about it.....and it worked when i ran it last

so basically ..........its nasty........and old.........and something that could leave me adrift in the Tennessee river if it fails.

Does anyone know if an overhaul kit exists for carter fuel pumps?

I have probably overhauled 50+ fuel pumps in my lifetime.......none made by carter....

an internet search did not exactly provide me with a clear conclusion

go get a new fuel pump and be done with it. With all the work you've done thus far, seems like that'd be the logical thing to do. Then you won't have as much to worry about.

about the pic of your pump...........yes, it's a sherwood as stamped in it..........and whatever number skidim calls for, that'd be what I'd put in there. I don't know the number off the top of my head, but that is the correct pump you have, and they will have the correct impeller complete w/gasket and o ring.
