Anybody know the specs on std course magnets? I found a source for ring magnets with 3 3/8 OD, 1 1/4 ID, 1/2 thick. How does that compare to std course magnets in size? Can I just fill a small coffee can with expanding foam, and center the magnet inside? I think it was Skidims web site suggesting how critical it was for the magnet to be absolutely parallel to the the surface. Does it really matter?

Check out the magnets on skier to skier for a good comparison. They've got a write-up about how their mags are different from the rest. Hope this helps.

go to a junk yard & grab the magnets off of factory stereo speakers. That's what we have done.

A buddy of mine works at a body shop. He grabs the "extra's" for us. Best price around - Free!

What do you do to float them, Jimmer? Forgive my ignorance on the subject, but how do you check polarity?

Just receive mines from Skier to Skier.
Seems i got McMagnets and have been supersized.I ordered some economics magnets at 13.50 US each and got billed and received the next bigger size at 17 $ US each.
I think i will write my phone number on them just in case i lose one.

Cool. I bought the econ mags and got the econ mags. Feeling like I got a bum deal now. ;)

Andre, did you ask Max about where to install them. A rather non-descript answer when I asked the question (apparently for legal reasons).

You mean on wich balls or how to tie them and how deep ?
There was that note in the box. While i had them on the phone,he told me those 17 $ magnets were good for 2 to 3 feet of depth.

They just hang from the surface bouy. No polarity to check, they just hang there.

The magnets I found are $1.36 EACH, with a min order of $30. With a price like that, it's almost worth wasting the money if they don't work.

What difference would polarity matter? Isn't the pickup just a hall effect trigger?

I thought they had to be either North or South up. The sensor is pole specific on its placement.
