I had a thread a while back about an X-45 I was looking at. I made the purchase on Saturday and am pretty stoked about it.

Specs:
2006 X-45
2007 tower
The previous owner had a gasket go out on the engine, so MC replaced the engine under warranty and now I have a new 8.1L engine with new warranty.
4 tower speakers,
MC cruise

The boat is in excellent condition and has 97 hours on it.

This has been a tough decision for me to make as that I have owned Tiges for the last 7 years. I sold my 24V a few months ago and found the economic crisis had hit boat dealers and makers pretty hard. This seemed to be the time to get an MC at a great price. As far as true value, I think that MC is the best right now. I don't see many 100K X-stars like just 1-2 years ago. Those of you who wander to Wakeworld or Tigeowners would recognize me as I go by Talltigeguy over there, and have been pretty active on the internet for years, in fact, I invented the internet ;)JK.

My family wakeboards, surfs, tubes and just loves to hang out on the water. Sometimes it is a big crowd, and the 45 fits the bill.

A big thanks to Matt, Billy and Landon at Utah water sports for their encouragement and patience with me on this big purchase. The guys run a classy place and once my wife got into the store and felt good about it, the purchase was a no-brainer. I told my wife that this boat was the 'one' before we saw it in person. She is always skeptical about big purchases and worries about having regrets, but after we arrived at the showroom, they put her at ease and that made the buy an easy one to make.

WOW, X45 with L18. Congratulations on your new "baby". I have never been in an X45 but I hear it is "the" boat to get if you regularly have large crowds. Why the new tower and did you get the tower braces for it?

We have our boat serviced at the MC dealer in Spokane, same owners as the Utah Watersports I believe. You're right, they run a classy outfit! The Spokane dealership is the best I have ever seen!

I asked about the tower braces in another thread, and it seemed that they were very important. Utah Water Sports put them on for free. They are not the fancy 08 supports, just tubes, and the tower seems pretty solid.

The word is that shortly after buying it, the first owner ran into a bank drive through. DOH!

I would be most concerned if buying the boat from a private party, but UWS has given me 30 day bow to stern warranty on the boat from the day I first put it in the water. If they feel they can stand behind the boat, then that is pretty good for me.

Congrats, Talltige I have seen some of your posts on WW.

Sounds like you basically got a brand new boat with the engine and all. If the old tower was damaged enough to be replaced then they did fiberglass work on the boat but you sound pretty confident in the dealer so I wouldn't be worried about it. Especially if the tower is solid right now.

Great looking boat - love the sticker upgrade. You will love the L-18 engine. I have one in my '02 X30 and it runs like a top. With the economy the way it is and the rebates being offered, I have thought about upgrading to the X-45 with either the LY6 or L-18 (my perference). Congrats and have fun with that thing.

Are you looking to adopt a heavy-set 32 year old man with a drinking problem? I won't take up much room at all on a boat that size...

No way! Congrats Tall. I also UPGRADED from a 24V to a X45 a few months back (sold my 24V this past Labor day and purchased the very next day). I read about your dilemma a few months back and was curious about what you ended up with. Cool. I think you will be even more stoked as you get some real use out of your new ride. Happy Holidays.

Great choice in boats. After reading your posts on WW, I didn't think you would go with a MC.
Glad you made your choice, you won't be disaapointed.

why are you selling your tower and lights already?

why are you selling your tower and lights already?

The Vegas dealer who has a store here in St. George Utah initially treated me poorly and asked for a signed purchase agreement before a test drive and emphasized that we couldn't spend much time in the boat so as not to run up the hours. I thought that was bogus since I wanted to test drive several boats and was not ready to commit.

They later called and apologized for treating me like an 18 year old looking for a free morning of wakeboarding. They did take me out on a test drive and their sales folks tried very hard to get me into a boat. I think they are just fine, and made an initial mistake with some new personnel. The day before I went to inspect this boat, they found some X-30's at the factory that were 2007 leftovers that I would have bought if they had just come up with them 2 weeks sooner. By then I was semi-committed to this boat. I would buy from them if the opportunity was right.

As far as selling the tower and speakers, I wanted to feel out the market for those. The tower is a little low for me. I am 6'9" tall. I also already have a perfectly good set of replacement speakers (NVS Tyrants) that the buyer of my old boat did not want. Part of me says to just stick with it, and see how this summer goes, but if the right buyer were out there now, it might be worth swapping out with a quality aftermarket tower like a Samson Switchblade. Those are a fair amount taller.

This is a pic of me in the boat, so stooping a fair amount might be something I should get used to. Sorry for the up close face shot, but there was no one around to get me some pics. I will have more pics of the boat soon.

I got some more pictures ready. You guys asked for them. The captain's chair feels like a lazy boy. My butt could be twice its current size and I would still fit in it.

I love the red dash guages. The swimstep has new rubber coating on it, from what I understand.

Here goes:

I already have a critter living in the boat. If you look really closely at the face shot of me in front of the tower, there is a little spider hiding out in the recessed portion of the clamp of the speaker just over my right shoulder. It is funny you can actually see him in the first pic of me and I never knew he was there. I then later took this picture and then he then immediately crawled down into the speaker. I guess I will be flushing him out this spring with some tunes.

Very nice boat. I just bought a set of Mastercraft cans on Ebay. They are hard to find, and the ones that are placed on there go fast. I think I got a good deal based on what they cost new, but you shouldn't have any trouble off loading them. Welcome aboard.

The real question is if the right buyer is out there to take the tower and how much it is worth as an aftermarket item. Then I would have to decide if the replacement is actually worth it. Going back to bungees on the racks does not seem like much fun.

This is an older Xstar with a tower I would consider, but in all shiny, not black.
