What do you guys do that live in central florida for winter use? I plan to ski through the winter, so I don't want to winterize, and just run a light bulb in the engine compartment on the few nights the temp goes below 32 deg.

Which leads me to my next question. Since freezing nights are rare, is there anything online that you can have email you an alert when your local temps reach freezing? I tried to find something that would do it through widgets on my mac, w/ no luck. Haven't checked weather channel yet.

You shouldn't have to worry about it. Here in florida, it never freezes for more than a couple of hours so it's not really an issue. I have never done anything to any of my boats. If you are still worried about it though, light bulbs and other ways are just fine.

Be careful with a lightbulb. Buddy set a trouble light down on his carpet and melted a nice hole. How about using a magnetic oil pan heater instead?

Im in North Florida, and all I do is put a 60 watt light bulb in the engine compartment.

Never had any problems.

Safest thing to do is drain the engine. 3 plugs and a knock sensor, shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

Is the boat on a lift, in the water, or in your driveway? My understanding is if it's in the water, it can't freeze in those conditions. If it's on a lift, lower it into the water.

1 plug in each of the exhaust manifolds.
