A few weeks back I posted a thread in regards to a '92 Pro Star 190 I had found. I was to finalize the deal yesterday. Friday morning I was traveling in Northern WI. when I came accross a 1988 TRI STAR 190 a individual had just parked in his driveway that AM with a For Sale sign. I bought it after taking it out yesterday. 306 original hours! Super clean and fits my family of five. Thanks for all the advice.

Eric, this is all in good fun. From reading your posts it seems to me that you are a very enterprising young man. It's great that you are setting goals for yourself. I was a late bloomer to waterskiing and did not get my first boat until I was in my 30's.

I'm just giving you a hard time... I couldn't think of buying a boat when I was 20. Good luck with your purchase.

Nice ride upnorth...

Congratulations! I think you'll be happy with the '88. I have an Prostar 190 in the same year, with low hours and runs great. I'm expecting to get many more years of use out of mine, with proper maintanence. Welcome to the board as well!

Congrats!
Our first MC was an 88 Tristar and we had it four seasons.
Always ran great and we liked the extra space beause of the wider beam. The seats were very spacious.
The only repairs were a carb rebuild and neutral safety switch.
I had it winterized and fluids changed by my local MC dealer every season.
It was well worth the $180 and you also have the service records if you ever decide to sell it.
Have a great season!

Rick is a straight forward guy and speaks from experience.
It is a known fact that the Tristar does ride rough in bad chop.
We have had many discussions regarding this.
I have mentioned that when I put an Ambush 4 blade on that Tristar, it smoothed it out a bit and the performance increase was very noticeable. The boat would also make a strange noise under the molded platform in rough water. I believe that it was cavitation. No big deal, the prop stopped the noise also.
I still use that same prop on my Prostar and the performance is great.
Give it a try, about $300 and well worth it.
Ambush 4 part no. 635101 13x13 LH Michigan Wheel Corp. Grand Rapids MI.

Actually the pic someone has here with the Maristar, 3 prostars, and the TriStar reminded me of how good a Tri looks in the water...

Whenever someone brings up a TriStar on here I just know everyone is waiting for me to say something so I feel that I must...

Rick, they do look cool on the water. Remember the Barefoot 190?
Same boat but with the 454. I saw one on the lake last year. It looked and sounded bad a$$!
This pic was from a pic phone so not the greatest quality.
(And I don't know who that is in the pic).
