You can also see in the pictures it has been repaired, because the CNC marks have been ground off and it's shiney in various areas.

All OJ props are ground off.They need to balance the prop.

Maybe Eric @ OJ can give us a professional ruling on this, as I remember a conversation with him and balancing is done by grinding minute amounts from the very edge of the blades, not the surfaces.

I took the prop from my x-star because it made an anoying sound and went to work(at the local mc dealer)i wanted it to swap it out with another.
I noticed the grinding on my prop and thought it was the cause of the sound but when saw all the other props i found out that they are all grinded,some more than others.

so the pic from willytowns link doesn,t mean that prop has been repaired.
(on the other hand,..it could be)
never had problems with acme though,..swap a oj on a moomba and you,ll notice a big (sound)difference.Not that it is important,...it is just a moomba.lol.....JK...!

@willytown MCX -LY6 or 8.1?

ask eric at oj about the 14.75 X 15.5 for very heavy ballast or the 14.75 X 17.5 for moderate (stock) ballast

The 14.5 x 14.5 is good for heavy ballast.... the 14.75 x 15.5 is a new prop that gives even more stump pulling power.

I have the mcx with the 14.75 x 15.5 and with full stock ballast and 12 adults the boat comes up on plane very good.

I run that same OJ 14.25 X 14.5 on my 2005 X-star (MCX). I run about 2500 lbs total ballast plus 5-6 people, holeshot is great and holds wakeboard speed well too. Top speed is 38-39 mph @ 5200 rpm's.

I like the prop, for my needs it's fine. If you're still running the stock one (13.7 X 17) you will be more than happy with this one. Price is right too (I'd buy it, but I don't need 2 spares) :)
