I've been reading a lot of posts about transmission ratios. Most posts talk about 1:1 or 1.5:1. I've seen some that say 1.5:1 is really 1.57:1. My 2006 X-45 with LQ9 haz a Hurth ZF transmission but the tag reads Ratio A=1.66:1 B=1.66:1. Any ideas about why it's not 1.5:1 or 1.57:1?

Origionally Velvet drives were either 1:1 or 1.5:1 gear reduction in the direct drive boats.
As time went on it was realized that 1.5:1 is not really an ideal ratio and there were some changes, the DD boats got trans nearer to 1.23:1 for the powerslot boats.
W/o doing research I am going to guess that 1.5 is provided in the owners manual as a simplification, and that actual ratios as installed differ due to the Transmission reduction and V-drive assembly.
And A is the forward gear ration, B is reverse gear ratio... Just thought you'd like to know. Technically they call A the continuous running posistion.
