well, I really screwed the pooch this time :(

I've got 2 Western Digital 120 gig hard drives on RAID1 that have been kinda been flaking out this last week.

Went to Sam's and bought a Western Digital 160 gig hard drive.

Used Ghost to clone my old 120 gig hdd to the new 160 gig hdd....
used USB to connect the new drive
all went well

was messing with getting the old 120's formatted and wasn't going well.

ended up using the Western Digital Data Lifeguard software that came with the new hard drive.

and inadvertantly deleted the partitions on both my 120 gig hdd and my backed up 160!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm soooooooo screwed......many years of irreplacable data.

does anyone know of any partition recovery software that works?
(I have not written anything back to the hard drives.)

There are commercial places that will recover this data. Depending on value it might be worth it. You probably have a local shop that is capable.

I feel for you Milk, but WHAT WERE YOU THINKING! No back up? :noface:

that was the purpose of the 160 gig hdd....

I thought I was safe with the data stored to 3 drives :cool:

2 raided and 1 usb

I know your problem, even DVD burners don't work with many many GB's of data.

Just a goggle search, but looks like it would work.

Never used it but I found this on google

I've already downloaded a copy of that through a P2P program, but it won't see my USB drive. :(

You could always remove the drive from your USB drive, and put in inside your case for this purpose.

All those drives are (I think) just regular old IDE, etc. So - you should be able to dis-assemble & make it a temporary "internal" drive for now.
