For those of you who have helped me fix my boat over the winter and late fall, I have an update.

Put a rebuilt new carb from PCM on it, runs like a champ.

I guess buying a Malibu isn't such a great idea!

Yea sure... I bet one can get an airtight seal without any extra gunk using JBweld....

WOW - can't believe he's even employed as a mechanic at a 'bu site (They're no MC, but they are one of the "better" boats out there). She shouldn't even be working on Yugo's!

I guess thats why some people never let anyone else touch their boats. You just never know.....

in all fairness, i was pushing him to get the job done quick, and didn't want to put a new carb on the boat. He had mentioned a new carb, but I didn't want to pay it.

I will admit it also, when the Bu lineup first came out with the Sporster I really liked it. And for under 20K it was a pretty sharp boat. There is a dealer that has had a yellow closed bow sportster in his showroom in Northern WI for atleast 8 months now, and I have looked at it through the window. Pretty sharp!

nice boat, but plan on getting wet. stop fast and water comes in over the transom. great hole shot, great pull, but a little low to the water. lower than my '85 stars and stripes. Save some money, buy a classic Stars and Stripes!!

The quick answer to why he did that is: He was trying to fix my boat, and get me on the water. Was it the right thing to repair the fuel bowl with? Probably not, but he was trying to get me back on the water w/o replacing the whole carb. We should have just replaced the fuel bowl or the whole carb, which is what we did.
