Kind of cool, I was thinking it was spring loaded at first, like those pneumatic tower extensions used by hydrofoilers.

"Lower your tower to put your boards away. "

Just to me, the tower doesn't drop fast enough to make it worthwhile to lower just to load a board, unless you lowered so you could load from the ground?

That looks like a whole lotta stress on an actuator seal if that is truly pneumatic.

The guy that is building this is out of Lake Elsinore, CA. He had it up at the boat show 2 years ago and it was really done nicely. It uses a little outdrive trim pump mounted down under the ski locker, so it is truly pneumatic. You can see the stainless braided hoses at the base of the hydraulic cylinders. This boat was for sale by Cal-Skier for a long while... I guess this guy snatched it up to use as a show boat for his invention.

I think you meant it is "truly hydraulic." Pneumatic means the cylinder is driven by air pressure.

Correct. My mind was stuck on pneumatic from 88's post.

It uses hydraulic trim fluid and pump.

This one is definitely faster and definitely pneumatic...

The first one (slow one) looks like it's a powered leadscrew. Similar to powered trailer jacks or gate openers. It could also be hydraulic, but it's awfully slow for that. Either way, when extended, it would be rigid.

The second is clearly pneumatic, and will be springy. Might add a bit of punch off the wake?

Which their other product is specifically a pneumatic cylinder designed to provide that punch off the wake and absorb some impact.

And according to their website it reads :
MasterCraft signs 2 year exclusive OEM licensing agreement to build Power Tower.

Which makes it OEM equipment 09?

I agree with Texas- I wouldnt want to be driving/observing when one of these babys fails and drops on my head! Great Idea tho!

If it failed it would drop behind you by the engine cover atleast it looks like. Of course if you had a safety lock.

Could be a good way to get ride of those unwanted passengers who seem to always have to leave when it's time to wipe down the boat or fill the gas tank! :)
