OK peoples, the wife and I are headed to Vegas for a few days and I have never been there. Anyone that has been there, what do you recommend checking out? On the other hand, what do you think wasn't worth it? Any pointers are appreciated. Thanks!

Ummm......give us a little hint. Do you like to drink and gamble, check out swingers bars? Go to shows? Roller coasters? Does your wife like the spa? Do you like massages with happy endings? You guys game for anything? Celine Dion?

Killin me...my fault for not bein more specific, lol. Love to drink, but don't really care to gamble. Wouldn't mind seeing a show or two. We're staying at Caesars from Tuesday night to Friday morning, but I'm not sure who's playing there. Someone told me Elton John was. Not exactly a fan, but he'd be better than Celine. Getting run over by a truck would be better than Celine. Massages with happy endings not recommended, not really appreciated by the wife, so no Bunny Ranch or stuff like that. We won't have a car, so I'm guessing we'll be doin a lot of walking. We're gonna check out Harley Davidson and Hard Rock for some lunch, but I'd like something a little better for dinner. Thanks!

I go a lot. In fact just got back from a trip last weekend. Check the weather it can vary a lot this time of year. If you really want an impressive dinner go to the Stratosphere "Top of the World Rest." It rotates, go about 6-6:30 P.M and you will see the city in the light and dark. It will cost a few Comedy show at Tropicana is good. Only $15.00-20.00, old school comedy room and usually pretty funny performers. Check your in room guide when you arrive. You will find promotions and some you can use. Ex., we found buy one get on free for the comedy club we were going to anyway and free drings to the show also. The coupons are only a deal if you were going anyway. Don't get suckered into some timeshare presentation no matter what!!! Good luck, have fun and relax.

Don't know what happened to my last post? The Stratophere Rest. will cost you a few bucks but well worth it. My girl said "Best rest. and atmosphere I have ever been to" and she's no rookie. Our choices were not over the top but we didn't skimp and the bill was $200-220, prior tip. It is 900 ft. above the ground and it is an incredable setting. Vegas is full of world class places, but this one is special. Reservations will be needed. and leave your pistol at the hotel. They send you through a metal detector for security.

You can walk from there to New York-New York to check out Zumanity. It's a Cirque show that really works for couples. If your wife is shy, don't get tickets anywhere near the stage! I have been dragged to different shows here and there, but I can honestly say this one was FUN! Look it up... You'll see:D

It would just be plain SILLY for you not to go to In-N-Out burger. There is one with-in walking distance of New York-New York.:headbang::dance:

Pretty neat option to those long walks up and down the strip. We used it for 2 days. It seemed more convenient than cabs. I am not sure how much time it actually saves you, as the stations are all at the REAR of the casino's. It was different, though.

There's also "The Deuce" bus service. I think it's like $5 for an all-you-can-use 24hr bus pass. It works decent for daytime activities, but when it's time to go up the strip at night to catch a show...give yourself plenty of time.

We saw Cirque "O". Great show.

Best part of Vegas...walking the strip with a beer in hand. :toast:

There are dozens of fantastic restaurants within walking distance from Caesars. I t would be hard to screw up dinner out there now from the high dollar places. I can't help you with stuff to do other than golf and gambling is there anything else to do there??

Ok first one to say go take a hike in the mountains gets shot!!!!!

Great steak/ribs for a really good price if you sign up to be a casino member. Micro Brew beer was really cheap. When we went there for a hockey tournament, all of the Air Force guys stationed at Nellis Air Force base recommended it. We all loved it. It's not exactly the Bellagio, but it makes for a great dinner.

Go to www.lasvegas.com. and you can find all kinds of info on who's playing where and what's in town. The Monorail is a good way to move up and down the strip. The Duece is OK, but like previously stated it crawls during certain hours. Definitely take the walk up and down the strip at least once(quite the experience). Beware, if someone tells you that such and such is just a block up the street, Las Vegas blocks are about a mile long LOL! I'm in Vegas for work about every 5 weeks and have found some awsome " Off The Strip" fun and attractions. I'll be back down the last week of October for another week. Worse towns to be working in than LV. Hooters Casino is a fun place to party at (a little less extreme that some of the big casinos. Just buy the wife a hooters shirt and it will all be good). I'm the guy in the middle with the ear to ear grin (and I know each of the girls by name) LOL! HAVE FUN......

Love to drink, but don't really care to gamble.

In that case, I believe there is a way to play Pai Gow and basically push and still get to drink for free!

Top of the world restaurant is pretty cool. I've been on the big shot, the roller coaster ride that shoots you to the top of tower. Not sure if they still do that?

They still have the "Big Shot", a coaster that hangs over the edge and a new ride I have yet to be on but it looks scarry. The rides themselves arn't the scariest things I have ever been on, it's the setting that puts the extra "scare" factor in them.

One thing thats a must, check in to your hotel AT THE AIRPORT! You can't imagine how much time it will save you! Also, Ceasars EURO pool is the place to be! Don't tell wife, just take her there and watch the reaction! A great steak house is in the Luxor. Never ate there though, but I hear its great. There is a free bus that runs to a few hotels that goes to the harley Davidson shop. It runs about every 30 minutes or so. Check out Vegas.com too. It'll tell you all kinds of fun things to do and places to go. My wife & I rented a Harley Roadking while we were there, and we rode over to Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. This, if you have time, is a worth while trip and only takes about a half a day. GREAT ride!

Just got back from Vegas. My wife and I and another couple went for my wifes b-day. Had a blast. Stayed at the Wynn resort and it was real nice. Here's a couple pics:

First picture is in front of the Wynn. Wife is in the blue dress along with my friends wife. Second pic is on the escalator at planet hollywood before we headed out for a night on the strip.

Check out the pool at the Wynn if you get a chance.

Ric,

Have you checked out the Penske exotic car dealership at the Wynn? They had a Bugatti on display. The Bugatti could be yours for a cool 1.4 million. Any takers?

Have a couple more pictures from the Vegas trip.

First picture - Wives checking in with the kids back at home from the Venetian. Did the gondola boat ride.

Second pictutre - Wife enjoying a drink at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at the Paris Hotel.

All in all we had a real nice time and will probably end up going back sometime over the winter.

Don't expect it to be too warm. Spearamint (or is it pepermint) rhino is a good place to spend money. Don't ride the Deuce.

i'm assuming i'll figure out what all that mean when i get there...

i have done little to NO research about what i want to do when i get there... this is completely a "wing it" trip

The Deuce is the bus that homeless people ride. The Rhino is maybe the best strip club. Go to the irish bar on the strip (yeah, its the one on the right hand side as your walking....about half way down the strip ((haha))). Good cheap beer.

I had a good friend that worked out there as a dancer. Try to get out at least once a year. Usually make the last weekend of Rehab (at the hard rock), but all the pools will probably be closed now.

I've been to Vegas a couple of times. I don't drink (much), and don't gamble, and I have to say that I don't care for the place much at all. Last time I was there, I saw O (Cirque) and thought it was great. I saw a few other shows, most were OK. Ate at Paris, ate at the Venetian, both were pretty good. My wife and I did go out into the desert and rent sandrails. That was fun, and I've rented a Harley, but I was discouraged by the incredible amount of garbage in the desert - everything from candy bar wrappers to junked refrigerators. I think Nevadans should be very ashamed.

All-in-all, not a fan of Las Vegas but YMMV and I'm sure the experience could be enhanced if one drinks a lot and enjoys strip clubs. I do recommend O and I have heard that Zumanity is good.

yea as long as i can get one person to make it w/ me i'm wanting to hit up a cirque show... i saw delirium in atlanta on one of their tours and it was possibly one of the most mind blowing things i've ever seen

HUGE VEGAS TRIP... DE-BRIEFING:

i recommend to everyone who ever has a chance to go... go see the "O" cirque du soleil show at the Belagio... worth every dime of the $170 ticket... i'd gladly pay twice that to see it again... if you leave there mad about the $170 bucks then you probably slept through it... its the show where the stage is a pool... just have to see to understand... GO SEE "O"

also... for a very nice dinner go eat at Bobby Flay's MESA GRILL... its located at Caesar's Palace near the sports books... somewhat pricey at 40-50 for a steak and the meal is served a la carte so be prepared for that... absolutely the best meal i've ever eaten... granted i ate it when i was hungry and a little drunk... no matter... i used my knife once... the first cut... of my new york strip... also... i had a piece of my friend's filet and that piece of beef fell apart when i picked it up w/ my fork... amazing food and tremendous service

we also hit up the clubs at the palms... everyone should check out the playboy and Moon club if you're into "cluby" type atmospheres... i'm personally not so much so a few of us went together and bought a bottle of goose and got a booth on the balcony facing the strip from the top of the palms... it was a good time... the bouncers there for sure will look out for you... we had some girls sit down w/ us and they asked us if they were "ok"... we didn't know the booth came w/ a body guard who would protect us from hot chicks...

the fountain show in front of the Belagio is definitely one of the coolest free things there...

make sure to check out the forum shops at Caesar's Palace as well... very cool... not a designer out there not covered there i don't think... not necessarily my "thing" but it was pretty cool to check the stuff out... i went into Nike Town and bought a new pair of shoes... the only part of any winnings i brought home w/ me i might add

also don't hop into a limo unless its a) comped and b) you're under a clear understanding where you're going w/ your driver

if you go to a stripper club (also not generally my "thing" on a regular basis but hey it was a bachelor party.... you kind of have to)... DO NOT get separated from the herd... these girls are hustlers... and good at it

have fun and walk away while you're ahead... i probably came out about even... which i consider a success as much as i played... had a guy w/ us sat down at a poker tournament at the Mirage (i think) w/ in an hour of being in town and paid $125 for a seat and 5 hrs later won the thing and made around $5k-$6k... he started the trip off RIGHT...

great town and from my experience go prepared to spend $200/day/person for a pretty good time + gambling... $400-$500 for a really good time

Def go see Zumanity. You can find plenty to do on the Strip and off.
