I really despise this season as I come to the realization that I have to put all the toys away soon. It reminds me how short the summer was and how I didn't accomplish all I wanted to. As I look at those pics, it helps me to despise it just a little bit less. Thanks Sue! Those are great shots, keep em coming!

Thanks again. I'll find some more to put up this evening. It's a holiday day for me (I get federal holidays off). I surprised Rick this morning and told him I would work on painting the house. He expected me to work in the garden or do something more fun. I took a break and put the paint brush in a plastic bag. If I start messing with pictures now I won't get the side of the house that I'm working on done. Catch you later. Sue

Sue -

Great pics! We were in Glen Arbor this past weekend for a wedding, stayed at the Homestead. What a beautiful time of year, driving home yesterday was nothing short of awesome! The colors made dealing with the south-bound traffic so much easier! If you have more please continue to post.

Thanks -

My painting is done (looks good too) and so is some yard work. Now for a few more pictures.

This is from a couple weeks ago at a roadside park near DeTour in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. Not a lot of fall colors yet, but it was really pretty because it had just rained and the colors were really saturated. You can see it's still raining over the Lake Huron.

suedv
10-14-2008, 12:19 AM
This isn't all about the colors, it's about fun. We hiked through a trail on Drummond Island and I decided to "play" in Lake Superior. My boots are waterproof so why not.

suedv
10-14-2008, 12:23 AM
This is also from Drummond Island. The area along Lake Superior only had pines and cedars so there weren't fall colors, but there was the fall rain. We had some rain every day for a week, we also saw 7 rainbows during the week. Each time the sun came out the colors were really saturated.

Thanks guys. By the way, I do sell some pictures at www.grandcityimages.com. It's mostly just a hobby thing so I post things when and how I feel like it or have time. Rick takes nice pictures too and puts some pictures on the same web site.

OK now for more fall pictures from Michigan. This is from a dogwood tree in my yard.

We'll that's it. I don't know if I'll have more fall color pictures this year. The leaves are really coming down. I'm going to have to spend my time cleaning them up from my yard instead of walking around taking pictures of them in trees.

No I didn't know you moved. However I thought I saw a for sale sign at your house when we were going to the boat launch for the ski show this summer. Do you still live in the same river association area? Are you on the river now? It's pretty over in your neck of the woods. Sue

I live half way from the dam down to where this years ski-show was held on the north side of the river. I wake up every morning and look out on the water and to be honest it is better than I ever thought it might be.

Wanna buy a house? (old one still for sale) LOL :D

Steve, that sounds like a really nice place to live!

Your old house would be tempting (river access would be really nice), but I like my garden too much to move. :) Rick keeps working on me to want to move, but he isn't too good at it. He would love to have a place with a big toy barn.

No, my husband and I almost went to Mackinac Island in September and then at the last minute I decided I wanted to hike a section of the North Country Trail instead. I have to go to Point Betsie a few times a year for work so I often tend to avoid the Point Betsie, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Traverse City areas on vacations or day trips. While they are pretty they remind me of work.

You're welcome.

By the way, I have a suggestion if anyone is thinking about vacation plans for next year. The Northwestern Upper Peninsula is breathtaking the last week of September and the 1st weekend of October. I would highly suggest visiting the Keweenaw Peninsula and the Porcupine Mountains. The fall colors are absolutely amazing and Lake Superior is rugged and beautiful. The Lake of the Clouds and that river you saw in the picture is in the Porcupine Mountains.

Don't get feeling like you're missing something with this picture. The lake was way to shallow to run your MasterCraft on for skiing. If you can figure out how to rip it up with a canoe you'll have a great time. :D

We didn't make it that far north. I was at Rochester to go to the Mayo Clinic. We went to Whitewater State Park the weekend before I had to be to Mayo and it was really nice. We also went to a Virginia Bluebell Festival at Carley State Park. The Bluebell festival was pretty, but I was feeling quite miserable while we were there so it was just O.K.
