I was just sitting here in the computer room with my kids. Without the quickness of my fingers I may have had to have a very long conversation with a 9 yo and possibly a 3yo. That kind of crap getting stuck to the top makes people look. Just sayin.

I hadn't seen any actualy pictures posted yet. Usually, these guys are either validating their registration, or posting links to porn or pharmaceuticals.

You're right though, discerning who's a spammer and who's not is pretty easy, and posting on those posts is pretty pointless since the spammers never see them anyway - they never come back and check on the hundreds of boards they join or posts they make.

I'm at a loss to understand why we're seeing so much of this on TeamTalk these days. I'm not seeing any particular increase in spam attempts on any of the boards I admin, nor do I see this as being a recently increased problem based on all the post I see on The Admin Zone forums (http://www.theadminzone.com/forums/). I think this problem must be related to a change in the way Team Talk is being administered.

Maybe Mastercraft took a big hit with the crash of the global economy? They might have had to let the spammer registration prevention manager guy go....unfortunate, really. I blame the media.

In the nearly 3 years I've been on here, all I've ever seen was a irrate member who go out of hand and posted junk out of frustration! Could it have something to do with loosing some type of Anti-Spam that was lost in the server migration and the new server doesn't have those capabilities?

It's not a function of the server, but the vBulletin software. I can see that maybe they could lose their spammer email domain blocking list in an upgrade (server switch or software upgrade), but reinstalling that is about a 5 minute process. And seriously, every single new registrant has to be approved by the Admin looking at the names of new applicants and clicking the "approve" button. So, every single one of these spammers, porn, drugs, or otherwise, are being physically approved by the admin of this site.

Howard,

I don't think this is true. Just to try it I signed up for a Gmail account and made a new user name. I immediately got a confirmation link sent to that newly created Gmail account. It seems as though there is a setting that has been altered so no administrator approval is necessary. Just a thought but the proof is usually in the pudding or on the face of the boy next to the pudding.

Ok, I must be a new guy, but which threads are from spammers? Is the $50 wakeboard thread a spamm thread? That is the only one that is obvious to me. Or maybe I'm wrong.

I'm confused on this one.

The threads have since then been removed.

They were filled with porn links and viagra links. Over and over and over.

They spam it and the mod's delete as soon as they can, thus they are gone. They seem to register and post the crap then leave in the middle of the night and while the thread can be removed the Mod's cannot delete a user account. Only the TT admin can. Thus the statement about the rubber bullets you may have read.

Others have complained loudly but If a spam link exists and it says ROCK HARD ***** then simply don't click on it.

Tap tap on the glass (whisper) the internet??? it's full of porn.... :D

You're right, Steve. Registering here doesn't require any review at all from the administrator.

I do it differently. To keep my forums spam-free, I (or one of my co-admins) review and activate every single registrant. When that happens, and after you click the email link, this message appears...

We last met in an hour of shock and suffering. In a few short weeks, our site has comforted the victims, begun to rebuild, rallied a great coalition, captured, arrested and rid the world of thousands of e-terrorists, deleted their threads, saved a people from unsightly and unwelcome images.

What happened to providing a hull # to get in this place, and whats up with all the minors on here?? I will take the spammers over the pimplie faced 13 year olds all day. At least with the spam you can find porn and prescription drugs. 8p

LOL.. indeed. There are too many kids here for the content that comes across here. I couldn't care any less one way or another but it's like a double standard. A PG site with no PG... LOL...

Posting to a spam thread has no bearing what so ever as to the frequency or preference of the return to a particular site (here for this thread topic). Once the spammer posts the link, they never look again. No reason to. The intent is met. Spam is posted and they never even log back in. They move on to other spam. It's not like they look to see how many hits or Ooooohs-and-Ahhhhhhs they get.

We are doing our best to keep the spammers out. Since we migrated the single sign-on between MasterCraft.com and Team Talk - we have had a loop hole or two that have been exploited by unsavory spammers. We, with the terrific help of our Moderators, are working hard to ensure that spammers are locked out and that this forum is kept clean. We appreciate your patience as we are diligently "sewing up" these loop holes and working hard to keep the offensive and advertising content out of this site. And, unfortunately - as soon as this reply is posted - it will bring this thread to the top. Regardless, we need to keep you informed.

Please report SPAM to your Moderator when discovered.

Thank You,
TTAdmin
