How far is that from Lawrenceville, GA?

05-03-2005, 04:48 PM
It is not too far
Probably about an hour and a half if you know your way through the country

hmmm.... a little far. Could possibly be moving to Lawrenceville area next year and looking for a live on ski lake. Lanier sounds great but I don't plan on spending 1 mil for a house!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there aren't really any lakes that fit the bill. Just a little advice form someone who just moved from Atlanta, buy a home close to your workplace. You could live on the best ski lake in the world but in Atlanta traffic you will never see it in the daylight. Lanier is nice but choppy on the weekend. The $300,000 house boats don't really seem to mind it but it is he!! on a DD. Most of the "metro Atlanta" lakes are this way. I say Go North Young Man there are some nice lakes in the North Georgia Mountains and Hartwell is not too far up 85 (if you consider S.C. not too far.)

Lake Russell in Elberton, Ga. is one of Ga. most Beautiful Lakes. The Cor of Engineers will not let anyone build on the lake so about the only people on the water are fisherman. We were on the water a couple of years ago on the 4th. and only saw 8 boats the whole weekend. I skied down the main body of water all day long, Found A Lot of Glass! We were real sad to give up and move to South Ga. but thats where I had to go to collect my bi-monthly pay ck.

I work off I-85 near downtown and I live on Lake Tara in Villa Rica, GA...it's an hour drive to work everyday, and sometimes 1:30 if traffic is bad. I did live right across the street from my job in the city, and after doing both, I wouldn't go back to that for anything. I get home by 6:15-6:30 and eat dinner right here every night. Living in the city can NEVER compare to this...so yeah, the drive is worth it!!!

I bought this house for $285k...they've got a golf course, beach area, rec area, tennis courts, pool, 2 smaller fishing lakes and the ski lake that I live on...

Just bought a house on Lake Wedowee in Alabama. 90 minutes flat from Marietta. Too far to go during the week, but you won't be seeing me around ATL on the weekends until the end of October. And, the boat traffic is FAR lighter than anything around metro. It's heaven!

Wedowee is no good. Do not take any skiing trips to this lake. Try and back out of the deal. There is not any water in Wedowee. The don't even allow boats on that lake.

ssshhhhh. Be very very quiet. We don't want our secret to get out.

You know, you're right LP. I was thinking of Weiss Lake in AL. I was just confused after all the different lakes I've tried. Thanks for setting me straight.

So anyway, yeah...Weiss Lake. 90 minutes from ATL. Pure Heaven. See ya there!

Hi another Lake Sinclair resident here...I've lived in Milledgeville all my life (21years) and been skiing and wakeboarding for about 6 years. I have a lot across from Bass' boat house. Where abouts do you live Professor?
