I am looking at buying 1990 MC PS 190 with 825 hours on a Ford Windsor 351. What should I be looking for when I review this boat. I have been told to check the compression.
Help need to make sure the boat is solid.
Any feedback good or bad is welcomed.
Thanks

Welcome to the board.
Make sure that the muffler bearings are in tact. There was quite the issue on the 90 190 with the muffler bearings.

Yes Muffler Bearings!!!!!
I had them come apart on a 91 205. The ball bearings were coming out of the exhaust and hitting the skier!!!!!

Oh and had you not told us to F we could provide you with everything you ever wanted to know about the 1990 Prostar 190 and what to look for. However, since you obviously do not have a sense of humor, too bad.

Well, look at it this way. Within 37 minutes of your first post you had 4 responses. Granted, they were all useless, but if you just hang on for another 37 minutes or so, someone that actually knows something will be along and may have some useful information for you. Around here it is kind of like freshmen indoctrination. Just be patient and have a sense of humor. There are some folks here that can give you a hand.;)

Clarkem;
I don't blame you for being upset. It's pretty crappy of some of the posters.
The best bet is to take the boat to the lake for a test drive. Put it in the lake and look for water coming in to the hull first (leaks). Start it cold. Does it start and run correctly? Does it blow blue smoke? Let it warm up for a few minutes and watch the gauges to make sure all of them work. Test forward and reverse at the dock. When the engine is fairly warm, start out in gear and take off at full throttle. Does it run smooth? Does it miss-fire? Any vibration?
Reality is that if it starts and runs good cold and warm, does not miss-fire under a heavy load (WOT) no funny colored smoke and is smooth, then you have a sound engine and trans. Check the colors of the fluids. NOTHING takes the place of a good test drive.

I was thinking the same thing....glad I read through before I threw in that vibration, slop in the rudder, slipping tranny, and leaks are important too. Just like if you look under the dash and somebody had some a lot of splicing under there. I'm not going to say that after that comment.:D

I bought an 88 PS190. This was not my first boat but was my first Mastercarft. I had the local Mastercraft dealer look at it for me. They had a pretty standard inspection program they went through and test drove the boat with me. That was three years ago and for me it was money well spent.
