So, this weekend we are out wakesurfing and the stereo turns off. Hmmm, too much bass? Then we start to get Voltage alarms on the dash. 12.5, 12.2, 11.7. We cut our day short and go back to the marina. Sunday I go over to see what's wrong, prepared to pull the alternator and take it to Auto Zone and then the dealer. I give a tug on the two wires on alt and clear as day the hot wire is completly broken off. $1.50 new stronger eyelet and we are surfing again.
The wire was fine, but the $.01 cheap-o eyelet that M/C used is broken off at the skinny part between the ring and the lug where the wire is crimped. Also, the way one of the water lines runs, it is putting pressure on the wire, which wasn't doing it any favors.
Just a heads up to everyone as it is kind of a deal breaker for the day if this pitches.
I'll post some pics of the broken terminal tonight.
