What's the general consensus of the order you should attempt to learn tricks? Particularly for kids, but for that matter any beginner, there must be sort of a rank order of tricks and skills based both on the difficulty and which ones are building blocks to advancing.

the book dvd has everything you are looking for. it is a 5 dvd collection on most all of wakeboarding from driving the boat to advanced. it has tricks in a progression tree letting you know how to build on tricks.

to get started, any beginner should learn how to come up both foot forward and work on the regular and switch riding. slow the boat down and they can do surface 180s each way. Oh yea, and don't let them ignore toeside cuts. they shouldn't depend on ballast to get booted, but on line tension to get pop.

My poorly constructed question didn't specify, but I was asking about wakeboarding.

Never heard of it. What's the title/source? I assume Amazon.com would have it or is it not a commonly available item? Sounds like what I am looking for.

Got it marked down to $60. It's excellent - buy it.

the book is bar far the best learning tool out there behind filming every set you make all summer... it teaches you progressive learning

I agree with everyone on the video. My son will actually sit and watch it and he is 9.

Good advice from 1boarder..........my son is trying to skip too many steps and heelside two wake grabs are great but not practicing riding switch and practicing edging drills are creating "holes" in his riding. I cannot get him to quit doing the same tricks and want to learn to ride switch.

riding switch is WAY more fun than riding regular for me... i could ride switch before this yr but never really put emphasis on it... now we have a rule on thursdays that if you hit the wake regular you pay for everyones dinner (wether it be 2 of us or 8)... i got a buddy who is landing a TS 540 and did his first half cab this past saturday (he just never tried them before... but that's how switch goes)... drives me nutts tho... my main riding buddy can't throw a TS FS 180 but kicks a scarecrow (TS Front Roll w/ a FS 180) more comfortably than he can do a regular TS wake jump... makes NO sense to me

i really dont understand some people's logic behind what tricks they want to throw... some people i think just want to do a trick b/c it looks cool instead of learning progressively and getting comfortable w/ the basics and working up from there

I think if I put that rule in place I will starve waiting on my 9 year old to pay:D

I did tell him yesterday I am going to slow him down to 18 and stop filling the ballast tanks.:)

Now lets see him go 2 wake with a grab behind the monster.8p

Kind of funny yesterday he was bunnyhopping into a back slide out in the flats.....getting a little more slide each time..... I looked over at his mom and said watch this he is about to head plant......then BAMMMMM! OUCH! SMACk!...............he raised his hand.:D

Who the hell names all these things anyway? This is worse than Starbucks... I'll have a double half caff skinny mocha latte on a leash and a backside half cab roll.

who ever invented the trick gets to name it... Parks Bonifay was the first to land a raley w/ his body torqued to perpendicular to the water (shifty) and he called it a 911 b/c he thought they were going to have to call 911 after missed that raley and did a "911" instead... Shaun Murray was the first to land a Raley to FS 360... he called it a 313 b/c he landed it at 3:13 pm... but i will admit... it took me a while... i still can get my moby dicks and my pete roses confused from time to time... mainly b/c i don't know anyone who can throw them... watching a lot of instructional videos and you'll pick up on the wordage

Thanks 210 good idea. He rode in his first INT event last month........kind of funny we had to write the tricks down his right arm so he could remember them. First past he might have gotton 4 of the 6 tricks. 2nd pass got his 6 tricks. He got through and said man those gates come fast..........
