shift/throttle control removal

How do i remove the throttle lever? There is a steel pin which is press fit into the lever at the "fulcrum" where the lever rotates. Do i remove the steel pin? Any help is appreciated. If i can remove the lever it will help with installing the backing plates.

PS i have searched for threads re: removal of the throttle shift lever and havent found a thing. Seems strange this has never been "talked" about before.

Not knowing which shifter that you actually have, it has been my experience that there is an allen head screw near the base of the throttle lever. Loosening that screw allows removal of the lever. I have not seen one with a pin.

Mine also has an allen screw at the base.
