While riding today. The oil pressure gauge would go back and forth. and when idling it would go almost to zero.

could this be the sending unit.
Or should I be worrying

Boat is a 1999 X-star with about 650 hours.

I checked the wire at the sending unit, and it didnt seem loose.

The boat is new to me, and I was told it had been sitting in storage for over a year.

Check your oil level while the boat is sitting in the water you may be low on oil.

Probably the sending unit. Do a search on oil pressure and you will find a few recent threads related to the LTR.

Yes I checked the oil. Its good to go.
Oil was changed before it sat up, so oil is thick. I plan on changeing sending unit this week. regardless.

I just replaced the Oil Pressure Sender on my 2002 LTR for the same problem. Made a huge difference.
Local auto parts didn't have one with the threaded connector on the top, so I used a Quicksilver (Mercruiser) one. Half the price of a MasterCraft part.
There was a threaded extension on the bottom of the original sender on mine- be sure to move it onto the new one.
