Recheck your work, make sure you reconnected all the wires to the proper cylinder, make sure you timed off #1. Check your dwell, blah blah blah... Cause and event seems to indicate you made an error. It happens.

Kind of sounds like the timing may not be advancing. May want to check out your distributor.

Thx, sorry, is an '84 Ski Centurion trutrac, 300 original hours.
backtracked everything, thought for sure was plug wires, does 13726548 sound correct?, checked dist advance, seems perfect, someone told me was blown powervalve in carb, that's why I rebuilt it. Someone else suggested, water in gas?

If it has a "points" type distributor... replace the condenser. And yes, you can get a brand new one that's bad.

There are two firing orders, but yours should be cast into your intake manifold, anyway according to this
depending on the engine tag it could be 13726548 LC & LD or 15426378 LE
