I just purchased a 2002 PS197 and it has 1 vacant gauge location on the far right of the gauge cluster. I purchased a 2 1/8" opening depth finder gauge to install into the location, but I'm unsure of how to carefully remove the factory blank plastic cover that is on the vacant location. Can anyone tell me how to do this without breaking the blank cover or the dash plate?
One more question. The depth gauge has a "through-hull" transducer that I would like to mount below the motor somewhere (at least that's where it was located on my old 1991 PS190). Is there a better location than under the engine? Any recommendations on how to best run the wiring from the transducer to the gauge would be appreciated as well.
Thanks for the help.
