I've had my 2003 MC X10 for 2 summers now and have to replace my second ballast pump on one of the 3 ballasts; my dealer is charging me $460 for the part (Ballast Puppy); sounds a bit steep to me? I see ballast puppies being sold for $260 +/-; anyone had experience with this and what a reasonable cost for the part would be?

I was thinking 250. Last time I priced them, they were 200 3 years ago

I have a friend that found basically the same pump but it has a plastic body instead of brass, he said it was around $80. If your interested I could get more details from him.

a lot of people use a simer BW8512, which is probably what your friend used (I think that is correct). It has a plastic head. I used one in a ballast project, but I think if I did it again, I would of bought the ballast puppy.

I have searched around - Looking for the impeller only to the stock JABSCO pump.
I have to figure out the exact type of impeller that belongs (Plan to do that today)
This one part for the pump - Cant be very expensive, Can it?
I guess I will know by this time tomorow!
They are rubber type material - I cant beleive how they operate - They bend over like that at pretty high RPM - I would think these impellers would burn out often!

Get the yellow impellers and they run about $26 each. The yellow are much better then the black.

Also to replace you can reference my thread here;

Absolutely -- get the yellow impellers.

I had constant problems with the ballast pumps on my 05 X-2 for the first year, then switched to the yellow impellers and no problems since.
