You know, you remind me of another boatless person year before last.

So the question is, when are you getting a boat Eric? What are you looking for? Nothing wrong with hanging out, learning and sharing before buying! :)

Do you have a job, if not you should go into sales. You have way to much energy. You do a good job at keeping the board running though, I think you must outpost Doug.

You know you got to slow down a little. I am sure that your little blue running guy can only take so much before he starts acting goofy.

I do have a job, I work retail management full time while attending college full time. I keep busy!

I have test drove one mastercraft that I almost bought. It was a 1998 MC PS 190 S&S. I had the load approved and everything, but the guy wouldn't come down on price, and I wasn't going to pay 26,000 for that boat w/ taxes.

Now, I am still "looking", but my qualifications are quite high. Also, I am debating whether I want a DD or a outboard. My lake is more suitable for an OB, but DD are alot of fun, and more versatile.

What are you going to be doing mostly: slalom, wakeboard, barefoot?

erkoehler
04-28-2005, 09:20 AM
I don't really slalom, but I do wakeboard, trick ski, want to learn to barefoot better, attempt shoe skis, and eventually foil.

04-28-2005, 09:20 AM
Oh, also have access to a jump if I want. Currently, my brother is the only one in the family that does the jump.

In my personal experience, outboards are a pain in the A$$. :twocents:

I guess they have gotten better though. I will say that I would like an MC to use up in Maine at our cottage which would be in salt water, and an outboard BF200 would probably be easier to maintain than an inboard would be.

Leroy

Eric; You are busy. What makes a lake better for OB? Which lake?

erkoehler
04-28-2005, 09:25 AM
Basically, the ramps that I have available I know can handle the OB. We currently have an OB and it is able to be launched pretty easily.

The name of the lake is Finley lake and it is in Cloverland WI. Between St. Germain and Eagle River WI. It is spring fed and only 95 or 105 acres. On the small side!

Iím thinking he is talking about an out board

Leroy

Just trying to see if I'm missing anything, I think an inboard is better for everything over a OB other than backing up.

Are we talking about a real outboard or an I/O? Propulsion is propulsion (apart from the reversing differences), and assuming you don't have a lot of stumps in your lake. Smoothness of ride, has more to do with the shape of the hull (depth of the vee shape in the water). A deep V hull will ride smoother than a flat hull. Of course, you can trim an o/b or an I/O. Okay, so maybe propulsion does make a difference to an extent.

Hey eric, check out TexasMasterCraft.com, I saw they had a 98 sportstar with 400hrs for 12 something. Sounds like a really good price.

MarkP
04-28-2005, 04:38 PM
Wow

And I thought you was kidden. 260 HP doesnít sound right for a 98?? Sharp boat for 12995. http://www.texasmastercraft.com/SearchEngine/jsp_template/detail.jsp?boatid=332277&reflink=null#

BriEOD

Mark,

I think 260 HP is correct. I believe, the 98' SportStar had a 305 and not a 350. This helped keep the cost down and is probably why 12-9 is the asking price.

erkoehler
04-28-2005, 05:23 PM
No, no stumps in the lake. I will check out the ad.

Back from work! It was a rough day. I got a 17" LCD TV for FREE!!!!

Leroy
04-29-2005, 12:29 AM
The LCD TV's are great in bathrooms and the bar area, but if you mount flat you need to put at viewing level. At least the one I have has a certain viewing angle, like when you try to read someone's email on the plane!

erkoehler
04-29-2005, 12:31 AM
I know what you mean about the viewing level. Not sure where I am going to put it. It isn't that big, so that kind of narrows it down.

Ha! That's what Andre once said about me. I had a dial up for another 2 years or so.

I can attest to an increase in posting is directly proportional to the proximity of a boat. I now work from home, wired my garage for broadband and set up my office less than 3' from my Prostar! My wife thinks she's going catch me with the laptop in the boat posting on this site - not yet. She's found me under it though, waxing the hull. I have the worste commute!
