View Full Version : Trailer Warranty ?
I'm having an issue with the brakes on my trailer. It's the typical surging and bucking others have seen. The dealer is telling me it's warped rotors and my warranty shows that they are covered. So my dealer is telling me that they will only turn the rotors and not replace them.
I'm having a hard time accepting this as a warranty repair.
Is this normal? Am I expecting too much from my warranty?

Bucking on deceleration, especially with the trailer empty, is normal for a MasterCraft trailer.
Actually, I was referring to the fact that they want to turn the rotors instead of replacing them.
Should I accept this or push for replacements?

I would make them replace the entire trailer.

I have a 2003 Mastercraft trailer and I noticed the bucking to, but only when I would slow down. It also felt like I was pulling a Mac truck behind me. I had 2 of the 4 calipers lock up so I replaced all 4 calipers, brake pads and flushed out the brake fluid, cost me $225.00 to do all 4 wheels.

Could you clarify if the trailer is loaded or unloaded when this occurs? Mine does it unloaded so I made a manual lockout (trailer brakes won't engage).
If it does it loaded then obviously it's different.
FYI...I recently had my unloaded trailer hopping pretty badly...even with the lockout in. I couldn't go over 15mph without the trailer getting into a rythmic bouncing. I found out a couple of weeks later it was (most likely) due to a broken belt in the tire.
If you have certain year trailers that had the calipers locking up, get in touch with your dealer and/or Reliable. There were certain years that had known issues and might be covered under a replacement program.
