Don't waste your money on moose juice. We've been using simple 99 cent dish soap for years. Works great.

you guys water that stuff down a bit, right? like 1/4 cup soap to quart of water or something? really want it to come off quickly in the water...

I don't water it down. It rinses off quick in the water if you "jostle" your feet a few times in the binding before you yell "hit it!"

I hate to be the bearer of bad news... but Dish soap is Horrible for the rubber on your bindings. And also, kills the fish. I've been using the same bottle of $8 moose juice for 3years now. A lot cheaper than a new set of bindings when they crack and tear from the dish soap.:twocents:

just use some cheap azz sunscreen... it comes off your feet... not toxic... it'll last forever if you use it kind of sparingly... and it doubles as sunscreen if you run out or start to get burned:D

I have been using it on the same bindings since 1997 and they are still in great shape. The dishsoap keeps them nice and clean. Also, 90% of the people out there do not use the same bindings for more than 5 years, so the longtime effects are pretty much mute. Also, most dishsoaps now are biodegradable, so the harm to fish and the marine environment does not work either. Hell, they clean the birds with Dawn dish soap after a oil spill... can't be too bad for it!

I will stay with my $1.29 dish soap that gets lost about every 3 times out because some one takes it home in their ski bag or lets another boat borrow it, over an $11 version of watered down dish soap relabled as "Binding Slime" anyday! :D

Pretty Good rant there, huh? I am impressed. I guess my telephone call with my plumbing subcontractor, carried right over into this post!

I use the dish soap too. I have a mini-bottle that I keep filling with diluted soap. I find that if you put some water in it, it helps make it a little slicker, and you don't need to use quite as much, not that it costs much. I don't think the soap stays on the bindings long enough to do much harm. The sun hurt bindings much worse than anything else.

I use dish soap also. Seems to work fine and been using it for years without any problems with the bindings. It also keeps my feet clean.

I did use one bottle of biodegradable once in my attempt to be green.

I start with a full bottle and keep deluting it with river water until it no longer works.

It is also good for keeping the bilge clean.

If the bilge is dirty (from maybe a sloppy oil change) Before my last set or 2, I pull the center plug and let a few gallons into the bilge and add some dish soap. The go skiing and let it slosh around while skiing. It is a easy way to clean it out.

A little dish soap will not kill the fish, unless you feed it to them from the bottle and completely fill them with it. All soap is bio-degradable.

KY, anyone? I would think the self-warming type would be good in cold water.

It's water based and won't damage anything.

Use dish soap diluted about 25%. more if running low. I was wondering when the tree huggers were going to jump on this one. My bindings have lasted over 15 years with using dish soap. I once tried a ski buddy's bio-nice stuff and I had a heck of time getting in my bindings. Nice cross thread Gonzo (ATF) !! Kind of like an oil filter that does not come off...

This sounds like somebody's wife found astroglide on the boat and he was coming up with excuses for why it was there... "really, honey, its great for the bindings..."

We use shaving cream such as Colgate in a can. The main reason is it is not as concentrated as dish soap so it washes off easier. The secondary reason is you never have to worry about it leaking or spilling in the boat.

We have found the same.. about 1/4 palmolive soap to 3/4 water in a spray bottle. Any higher mix and the pump can't handle it.

I bought some slime about 10 years ago, used it and now fill it with Soft Soap and water .. 50/50. This is the same stuff they used at Bennetts so I converted.

Works great ... wife bought vanilla mango and makes the bindings smell great too!!!

I goggled Moose Juice and found this:
Moose Juice Recipe
24 oz light beer

4 1/2 oz triple sec
4 1/2 oz strawberry vodka
3 oz strawberry liqueur
6 oz any fruit juice

I am not wasting any of this stuff on bindings.
