New Liquid Force PS3 137 and Transcend bindings. The board is great and the bindings are very comfortable and easy to get into but stay on really well when cinched down.

Hyperlite B Side 141 (JD Webb board) with old OBrien Link bindings. Love the board - need new bindings (especially since they are held on with CWB clamps and screws since I blew the tops off of the Obrien hardware with various wicked wipeouts), but like them better than my CWB bindings because they have a higher wrap and more control.

Liquid Force Trip 38 with Hyperlite Byerly bindings. I'm 6'1 and 185 and I think it's a great all around board for me. The Byerlys are much better then the Pro Suctions that came with the board. I'd like to get out and try some new boards and bindings though, just not ready to drop the money on something I may like!

Love my Slingshots...they are incredeibly comfortable. Did you heat yours up and then mold your feet? I put mine in the oven on a low temp for about 20 mins and then put them on. They fit perfectly now. I too am out, probably for the season-:mad:

CWB Absolute 141 with CWB Zeus bindings, this is the board I rode the most last year, on the slow side but I like it

CWB Absolute Platinum 135 with CWB Factions bindings, the wife’s board, very light I have never road it “to fat”

CWB Transcend 142 Platinum with CWB Zeus bindings, this is the new board for me and only road it 2 times I need to work on the setup more but I do like it, faster than the Absolute and good pop

08-14-2008, 11:37 AM
haha those boards are there for 2 guys and 1 girl... i don't ever get the surfer or the two wakeskates out of the boat... they usually just chill in there since they're under the cover... i would leave the boards on the racks if they wouldn't fade like our old parks boards did (the two pink ones... we were riding w/ a friend who left his supra in the water at his lake house so we'd just go jump in a leave the boards on his boat between trips... FADED like a mofo over about 4-5 weeks... we don't care they still rode good)
let me see if i can do this... (left to right)
08 ronix ibex 144w/ 08 ronix cells
08 krown elite 138 w/ 07 ronix cells
08 krown elite 138 w/ 08 slingshot dragonflys
08 ronix covenant 150 w/ 08 slingshot D2s
07 cwb lotus 135? w/ 07 cwb sage
04 hyperlite parks (DNA core) 138 w/ 06 hyperlite murrays
04 hyperlite parks (DNA core 143 w/ 04 hyperlite temet
07 liquid force fish 131? w/ 06 hyperlite murrays
04 hyperlite parks (biolite CORE) 143 w/ 04 byerlys
the rest have been sold or traded

ok i'm out of breath... but the rounded shape is a flex baord... i like to have it as a training tool... it will absolutely MAKE you edge and ride correctly... very little room for error... i commend it to you... just buy the next size up from what you normally ride... that board will teach you how to learn to ride switch and will make you a beast on board control while riding... surface 1s are as easy as putting the handle in your other hand

the slingshot d2 are nice but they really don't compare w/ my ronix boots... yes they keep breaking but MAN they are comfortable... best boot on the market bar none in my mind... i can even get foot in them w/ a double wrap ankle brace on like this one... which is NO small feat

Hey WX2W - have you ever riden a Hyperlite Roam? How does it compare to the Ronix you have? Pretty much the same? I am thinking of getting one of these two boards - my dealer has them clearance priced.

same exact deal... i say GET ONE... they're fun to screw around on and great for rehab when you don't need to leave the water or if youre wanting to get better and edging or whatever... i think i gave 170 for mine... great pickup... just throw some old bindings on there (or in my case the back up bindings) and roll w/ it... you'll get a whole new appreciation for riding one

I am going out to the dealer today and will probably pull the trigger on whatever one he has in my size. I ride a lot behind a Seadoo Wake to practice switch, edges and surface spins, and since the Wake ironically has no wake (at least not with just a 14 year old boy on it), one of these would be perfect for those runs.

yeah... i don't think words can prepare you for how slick that thing is going to be... i've yet to find anyone who i've personally seen do an invert on one... i'd grab one a size up from what you normally ride... say you ride a 138 board the grab a 145 roam/covenant... its a good bit of fun and just remember... keep your leading edge UP... from what i've heard pancakes are more painful than normal on one... it has improved my switch riding by leaps and bounds... i have a little drill i like to do on it... carve on HS regular then carve HS switch there and the go back regular and carve TS then again switch and carve TS that way... it'll make you ride "the right way"

I saw your "being dragged across ice" analogy above - thanks for the warning. I'll be prepared for a few falls, but sounds like it will be worth it to get the edging down both regular and switch. I enjoy the surface tricks as well, and these boards sounds perfect for that. Sounds like these things only have any stability at all if you're on a hard edge or doing a boardslide.

By the way wX2w, you should get or borrow The Book DVD. Your methodical approach is similar to theirs. They have something they call the 2 Minute Drill and 4 Minute Drill that are just like the edging drills you describe. They take a step by step approach to teaching every trick there is - most of which I'll never achieve but you're probably young enough and advanced enough to get something out of disks 4 & 5.

haha i appreciate the kind words... i'm really not that good and will always wish i were better... i think my methodical approach comes a lot from my education... math, science, physics, and other engineering principles... i've got "the book: base inverts" and haven't watched in a couple of years... may have to knock the dust off of it... i'm a do it over and over until you get it right kind of guy... i'm really looking forward to coming out next yr in better gym shape and hopefully being able to get some riding done w/o injuries... i've been out about a month of this summer (which started the second week of March) and i'm still not 100% on this ankle yet... SO frustrating

Injury free riding is definitely good motivation for off season workouts. I was wearing braces on both knees and could barely bear weight on my right leg by the end of last season. Spent the off-season working on legs (lots of squats, abductors, etc) and core and have been injury free this season and no braces (knock on wood). I have been watching that BAse Inverts disk while working out this week in preparation for trying to land my first this weekend, so my injury free season may come to a screeching (or should I say screaming?) halt this weekend.

I am a methodical guy too, which is why I love the Book. Even I want to quickly skip their nice step system and just go out and throw it though.

hahahaha i know what you mean... my buddy's first raley... he was doing the butt pokes... and IMO wasn't really ready to just throw it out there... i just saw him edge in like never before and next thing i know the board is over his head and he rips the rope down to the sketchyest landing i've ever seen... hahaha he fell on his butt and didn't stop laughing for 10 mins... it was awesome
