I replaced the LED originals with neon tubes from the auto store. They were about $20 each. Made the boat lights at night alot better! Thought I would give you all a cheaper option. It took about 2 hours to install.

$80 worth of lights.

3- 12" Cool Neon lights $22 each (avail in many colors)

2- Set of single led lights (3 per pkg) $7 per set

Bought at Best Buy, the ones at the car store were weak!

Cut the existing LED wires and remove.

Run new wire for speakers back to existing LED wires.

Remove Speaker cover and double tape on the cover.

Install 12" lights under the gunnel and under drivers seat.

Done!

Note: The lights from Best Buy have a cigarette adapter, simply cut and spice the wires.

Side note, they also have a gear shifter that looks alot like the MC shifter that has led's. Decided against that.

I will be adding 2 more sets for the observers seat and rear storage area to replace the white lights there currently, may also add some in the cooler for the night cruises :toast:

That project is going on the to do list now. I just need power as I have no lights now other than the “required lights“. Do all of your lights work off of the same switch that operates your “required lights”

looks great....but becareful with the neon tubes. They will break if you it a wave wrong or get in real choppy water. I broke three in my last boat and that is the reason I put LED's in my new boat.

For those of you interested in LED's I can still get the MC style...

Good to know, but I doubt that they could take any more of a beating than they did Sat coming across Lake George. We had water everywhere, including the bow. I attached them to the back of the vinyl panel.

I have a switch for courtesy lights, I would run to a different switch other than combining with your nav. lights.

April: I'm interested. What are the details? Don't know what aray options they come in. I'd like to put an aray of four in each of my side storrage areas as well as about half a dozen individual LED's for various "BLING" applications.

Am I correct in assuming that the LED can be wired direct to a twelve volt power source like one of the accessory power leads under my dash?

That looks pretty sweet! I have them in the gunnels like you, but I'm wondering how you get them to light the speaker up? What lights did you put there? Just one of those LEDs?

One thing that we did that I haven't seen anybody else do is that we put one little LED in the cupholder. So, when you put a bottle of water in it at night, it glows blue. Thats pretty bling...
